Getting published

I'm new and I'm sure this question is probably the first one everyone asks, so please bear with me while I find my way around.

I've been writing stories and poems since grammar school, but never took a writing class or went to collage. So I'm just trying to do some research to see if I can actually do anything with this thing I love to do so much before I get too old.

Welcome to AW and ask as many questions as you need to. Read a lot of the threads here, too.

You don't need a college degree nor writing classes to write and get published. Just a lot of writing, rewriting, and reading. Go to the library and take out as many books as you can find on writing.

And this place is an excellent start.
