I'm having a heck of a time with a non-fiction synopsis. I write in a humorous manner about a serious subject. I do address issues and offer solutions, but in a laugh instead of cry manner.
I've had some success, I've been published in print and on-line magazines, write for a paying blog, have been included in a couple of anthologies put out by good legitimate publishers. Readers tell me I'm great, you know, I'm doing OK, in my own little pond.
I'm trying to get out of my little pond. Many books are published about the things I write about, some by major publishers that sell well. The thing is they are all inspriational, academic, whiny, etc., and all dead serious.
I'm having a rough time getting the humor in my book across in the synopsis. I'm being perceived by agents as angry. I'm not, not is the book. I haven't had this problem with the editors I've worked with on shorter projects, they "got me".
How do I get across the humor, the fact that it does address the serious stuff , and I'm not angry.
