Newbie still undergoing lurk deprogramming

Hello all,
I'm an aspiring writer fresh out of teen years but not entirely legal. I've been starting novels since I was 12, but as a perfectionist, I haven't quite concluded one yet. I'm hoping, nevertheless, to finish my first and longest WIP by the end of this year. I've enjoyed this site for years, and as a brave first step, I've finally joined. I'm looking forward to participating in this community!

Part of your deprograming includes controlled deperfectionising. Don't try to write the perfect novel first up. Just write it. I tend to re-read all the time while I'm writing, so it's not a total lot of garbage when I've finished, but at least I finish it. So I'd suggest you delay your perfection until after you have the story down on peper.
