I went to two writing connected events this week, which I've done reports on.

The first was a Children's Book Circle event about dealing with dark subject matter in YA fiction (prompted in part by the Daily Mail article that was discussed in this Thread: http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263943): http://hooton.livejournal.com/39464.html

The second was a British Film Institute interview with the playwright and dramatist Alan Bennett, who was talking about a famous series of monologues he wrote entitled Talking Heads but whose comments on writing and character have (in my opinion) more general application - http://hooton.livejournal.com/39866.html
