An interesting thread has shown up in Critical Theory of Language (or whatever the exact title is) in the group of forums immediately below this one.

It's about 'feminizing" of history and placing modern values on people of importance in the past. There are no responses in the thread yet, so I thought I'd mention it in case anyone feels like answering the poster's question. Puma

I would also be interested if anyone could point me to any books I could use in the essay. Also keen to read author interviews too.

At the moment I'm thinking of (fiction): Sarah Waters and Philippa Gregory; (non fiction) Jenny Wormauld and Antonia Fraser.

Any other ideas?
