Something a little different. Seared off three boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a little corn oil. Removed from pan. Put in one medium diced onion and sauteed it a little. Put the chicken back in on top of the onions. Used a slotted spoon to put a generous amount of Ro-Tel on top of each breast, and then put the rest of the Ro-Tel around them (used two cans). Simmered for a while to make sure the chicken was fully cooked. Added a generous amount of shredded Mexican blend cheese on top of each and covered so the cheese would melt. Served over rice. We decided it was a keeper.

On the way home from groceries we noticed that the indian food truck (that had replaced the taco truck) had a huge crowd outside it. So we fell in line and had aloo tiki chole and pirri puri with mango lassi.

Ice cream was melted when we got home, but it was worth it.

chicken and mushrooms with artichoke hearts in a lemon oregano pan sauce, served over brown rice. Wish I'd had a girl scout cookie to go with it....

I walk past Wolfgang Puck's every day on my way to work.

Tonight, I bought myself a 12-ounce ribeye, salted and peppered it liberally, preheated a cast-iron skillet in the oven until it was screaming hot and threw the steak on it for about 10 minutes, turning it once. I let it rest for about 8 minutes while I sauteed some spinach in garlic. Then I scarfed it down with 6 ounces of Oregon Pinot Noir. I had four gingersnaps for dessert.

Wolfgang Puck can bite me.

That sounds great, except I would have finished the bottle of wine.

The bottle of wine only had 6 oz. of wine left. Sadly.

I am a firm believer that if you open a bottle of wine, you must finish it. ;)

We had scraps for dinner. We hardly ever have a real dinner on Sunday. My hubby goes to his mother's house with her grocery shopping for the week, and grazes while there.

Crock-pot beef stew:

The last of the potatoes from my garden, seven medium-sized ones, picked in September last year, and still very nice.
Two golden beets
One large rutabaga
Three stalks of celery
Six or seven carrots
One black radish, peeled
Two small parsnips
One granny smith apple, peeled
A dozen or so brussel sprouts
Two leeks
Half a white onion
Ten or so crimini mushrooms
3 pounds of cubed stew beef, marinated overnight in a tomato-basil marinade with squeezed orange juice and ground black pepper
A standard package stew mix

All the veggies chopped into bite-sized bits, the whole mess in a big crock-pot, slow-cooked all day. Three of us eating it, and it makes great leftovers. And a great way to use odds and ends of vegetables in the fridge.

I've eaten at Spagos and that sounds better than anything I had there
