Nothing wrong with that! Some people prefer stuff without lyrics. Some prefer lots of lyrics. I'ts all a taste thing. My songs all have words.

Well, Brokedown Palace has words that directly relate to my ending and general theme of my MC's thought process. I didn't go looking for any of this. Those songs just popped out at me. The soundtrack without words helps me drive home the emotion in my words dramatically without words getting in my way. Listening to songs with words while writing is like having someone count backward outloud as you try to do arithmetic.

Cheering you all on!
Character (image) songs and songs for specific scenes. They are so motivating at times.

BW, Vertical Horizon - Echo

What do you mean by "Blind Writer"? In your profile you say you'd blind fold everyone if you were ruler of the world. I'm just curious.

I"m legally blind. I have some vision, but not much. Thus the name.

Sage, I"ve never heard it.. I'll have to find it.

I figured that, but didn't want to assume. And the rest of the world should understand what it's like -- thus the blindfolds.

You know...there's a novel there. Is that what you write about?

Echo

Echo, echo
we come and we go
No I don't want to
be just another
Echo, echo

Everywhere I go
There's something that I really need
Everyone I know
is someone that I want to be
Even though
I don't really know me

I'd better pick it up
before I let it slip it away
Better stick it out
before I take another day
Hand to mouth
And every single word I say fades out

Echo, echo
we come and we go
No I don't want to
be just another
Echo, echo

Can I open up your eyes
Only when the clouds break
Can I feel alive
even though the world shakes
Every night
here in my quiet satellite

Can I hold you close
till we're out of focus
and everything I know
I don't even notice
when it all falls through
I'm here and I hear you

Echo, echo
we come and we go
No I don't want to
be just another
Echo, echo

Do you hear me?
Do you hear me?
'cause I need to
just to reach you
Can you hear me?
coming clearly
Am I hollow
Just an echo

Echo, echo
we come and we go
No I don't want to
be just another
Echo, echo

It's just another day
and every single word I say fades out

I just like finding songs that fit my characters. It helps me to channel them when I write.
I agree with you....sometimes when I'm in the car, just focusing on the actual lyrics of the song...it's like OMG that sounds just like him/her :) and then I picture them in a situation and helps me create a very vivid world.

During the ENTIRE duration of my writing process, which I've been writing my novel for a year, but I wrote 2/3 of it in the month of March of this year, I listened to nothing but orchestral soundtracks. I listened to mostly Transformers-Steve Jablonsky, Lady in the Water-James Newton Howard, and Two Steps from Hell--which is the most incredible company that composes most of the movie trailer music that you'll see.

I'll have to post later with my soundtrack...I get to excited thinking about music and I would need time to think about what I would want exactly :tongue

I found my new MC's theme song! "Mad World" as sung by Adam Lambert. Thank you American Idol!! The song is a little more depressive than my MC, but it gets the main point of her emotion.

I first heard it on Donnie Darko (brilliant movie), and I loved it, but when Adam sang it last night, I was like, "OMG, that fits Kate! Well, except the dreaming about her death. She only does that occasionally, but the part about no one knowing her is perfect!" So, yeah, my MC is NOT an emo kid, but "Mad World" is her song.

I also discovered that "Faded" by Cascada fits her relationship with her mother, and it will be on the soundtrack, along with "Could it Be You" by Cascada, which works perfect for her relationship with the love interest.

I wrote Eternity in three weeks (30k in 3 weeks! *pats self on the back*) and for the duration of it I had my Ipod blaring with one CD on a continuous loop.

Ahem, so here is the semi official soundtrack to my book

1.) Solemn Hour - Within Temptation
2.) Romanticide - Nightwish
3.) Ghost Love Score - Nightwish
4.) Pale - Within Temptation
5.) Our Farewell - Within Temptation
6.) Planet Hell - Nightwish
7.) Stand My Ground - Within Temptation
8.) Angels - Within Temptation
9.) Paid in Full - Sonata Arctica
10.) Vampyre Erotica - Inkubbus Sukkubus
11.) I Can't Breathe - Krypteria
12.) Fully Alive - Flyleaf
13.) Obsessive Devotion - Epica
14.) Sancta Terra - Epica
15.) Poet and the Pendulum - Nightwish
16.) April Rain - Delaine
17.) Final Destination - Within Temptation
18.) Fragile - Lacuna Coil

If you haven't already been able to tell, I'm a metal head...and a avid fan of WT and Nightwish. ;D
