Juneluv: I had to nudge Ms. McCarthy for a rejection - she thought she'd already sent it and apologized for the delay. But it's better getting the R than waiting, IMO. And maybe she's set your MS aside to think about.

I'd love to think that, Brimfire!! But I've since taken the Preface/Prologue out, so that might be the issue......I may shoot her an email just in case!

She's requested snail mailed partials from both queries I sent her and sent back "Dear Author" form rejects on both

I just got a partial request from her and sent off my first three chapters. We'll see how it goes.

hey folks. Sent a query to Ms. McCarthy on the 17th and got a partial request on the same day with a "your work sounds interesting". seems that many have gotten partial requests before so I won't get my hopes up too high.

Interesting. I've heard of form rejections, but form requests?

Many agents use form requests, I've seen quite a few of those.

Just received a wonderful rejection from Shawna on my full. She was very encouraging and said the only thing that was keeping her from wanting to rep it was the lack of a "visceral reaction".

I sent a partial to Ms. McCarthy in mid November. It's been 8 weeks and I haven't seen a response yet. Her form request says 6-8 weeks, so I think I'll email a polite reminder.

I got the email rejection about six hours after the polite reminder. She "found the plot and action a bit too reminiscent of a video game rather than a novel." At least it's not anther form rejection. Sigh... on to the next query.

got a partial request a couple of hours after sending query. She'll be my last query for a while though.

Yes, she has an unusually high number of requests on authoradvance.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. If you're MS is good it just means you'll have an easier time getting your foot through the door.

Is Nahvae a no response = no agent?

I sent her a query on 3/7/10 and I'm still waiting.

It is with the deepest sadness that I must tell all of you that my wife, Irene Schaft, passed away on Monday, 9 August 2010 from a massive stroke.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Parker Paws, http://www.parkerpaws.org/donate.html a local animal shelter.

Irene's system will only be up infrequently for the next few weeks, and her mail will not be checked regularly. Any messages of condolence can be sent to her husband George at schaft@schaft.com

I e-queried her on the Mar 27th and have yet to hear a response. I am guessing from the quick turn-around times on queries that it's probably a no. Rejection number 30! Go me! I am starting to wonder if my query is flawed (like they can ever be perfect).

I queried Shawna back in January and haven't heard a thing so my guess is no news is bad news from these folks. Quel damage.

    Query sent 17 August
    Partial requested 18 August
    Full requested 17 September

So she's pretty quick on turnaround. Straight down the line and professional in her correspondence (but she let me email my full since I'm from Australia, which isn't her usual modus operandii, so she's also very accomodating).

I queried Shawna in mid June. I'll put that down as 'no response means no,', and move on.
