Nowhere, man
There's a possibility one of my books could be turned into a web site.

Knowing that part of the thrill of writing (other than getting paid) is holding the finished book in your hands, what's the payoff when you have a website?

What happens when it finally folds? How can you download 1000 or more pages of information so that you can hold it in your hand?

Same thing about ebooks.

Getting feedback from visitors/readers, and/or getting paid!

Those two are better payoffs than the physical books, IMHO, delightful though the books are.

It 100% depends on your goals and how the digital publishing is done.

The pay off can be money, and under very specific circumstance online subscription or ebook sales can be the best vailable option for a work, but for most manuscripts they aren't.

If your goal is to hold a book in your hands you can self-publish it and have one within a few days.

If your goal is to make a website you can start a blog and have you book on it within hours.

So the questions is 1) what do you want, 2) which of your relaistic options comes closest to delivering this and 3) is that close enough to be worth while doing at all?
