Thanks guys for all the support--y'all rock! To be fair, he's completely clueless when it comes to writing (not that it stops him from giving his opinion--can you tell I'm still pissed?)

Red, I didn't kick him in the babymaker...probably should have (where's that devil smiley when I need it?)

Snappy, I was thinking of you when I asked for the devil smiley! (didn't expect it to come up as post 666, though).

Your wish is my command. Well, at least for smileys. ;)

Hester, that is funny. And crazy-making.

Hugs to Clovia. Take that rock and throw it through a window with your query attached.

Damn, now I've got Iron Maiden playing in my head.

This thread makes me want to hang out at a library. The archives of old books they keep, that aren't even online in a lot of cases, are incredible. I wouldn't have been able to discover John Guare or William Golding's non-Lord Of The Flies works or Thelonious Monk as a teenager without the libraries around my hometown.

I do love libraries. I've been so busy trying to read current stuff in the genres I write that I haven't discovered any amazing, forgotten books lately.

(((Clovia))) You can smash things with rocks. Just sayin'.

I love libraries too. Just wish we had nicer ones where I am. *sigh*

Yes, my love of libraries has been somewhat diminished by the omni-present homeless population around here. For every perfectly decent poor old man who just wants to read the papers in the heat/air conditioning, there's a crazy woman who smells of urine and wants to hug you, and a toothless guy who mumbles Charles Manson-y things under his breath. Oh and let's not forget Pussy-Eater. I haven't seen him in about a month, which means his most recent banning is probably about to expire.

Oh, and thanks, Ronald Reagan for cutting the support system out from under these people, so they'll be forced to haunt my library.

(((Clovia))) Though now I kinda want a rock.

(((Red))) Ah yes, the library as pseudo-shelter. I know this well. It is sad, frustrating and sometimes frightening all rolled into one.
