Thank you both Miley and Craig for the replies. I keep thinking at this point no news is good news. So hopefully it'll all work out great. Cheers.
I just got my rejection letter from the contest this morning. It was kind of depressing but I have a few other publishers I've decided I like better. I want to submit the one I wrote that Delacorte rejected to Walker Young Readers (a division of Bloomsbury). I think you guys should do the same! They take unsolicited works of the young adult/children realistic fiction genre.
As of October 1, 2006, Bloomsbury Children's Books will no longer be responding to unsolicited manuscripts or art submissions. Please include a telephone AND email address where we may contact you if we are interested in your work. Do NOT send a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Any submission postmarked AFTER October 1 will not receive a response, even if a SASE is enclosed. Any submission postmarked BEFORE October 1 will still receive a response.
We regret the inconvenience, but unfortunately, we are too understaffed to maintain a correspondence with authors. We will continue to accept unsolicited manuscripts because we believe in the policy, but we can contact you ONLY if we are interested in acquiring you
Actually, PVish, those aren't the same guidelines I read from. The one I was talking about is here.
It says, "please allow 20 weeks for our reply" after you send them your manuscript.
