Cheering you all on!
66. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling (audiobook)
67. The Pearl Thief by Elizabeth Wein (audiobook)
68. The King's Guard by Rae Carson (novella)
69. Timekeeper by Tara Sim
70. Dividing Eden by Joelle Charbonneau
71. The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

I don't usually go past the set of five (this year), but since Goodreads jumbles books you finished in the same day, I'm avoiding confusion when I get to 75.

I had a solid October and managed another 12 (including 3 YA and 2 MG), taking me to 130 in total. Had a bit more of a mix of fiction and non-fiction here too as I'm trying to freshen my reading up a bit.

  1. The Money Formula: Dodgy Finance, Pseudo Science And How Mathematicians Took Over The Markets by Paul Wilmott and David Orrell.
  2. The Loneliest Girl in The Universe by Lauren James.
  3. The Furthest Station by Ben Aaronovitch.
  4. Last Argument Of Kings by Joe Abercrombie.
  5. The Strange Disappearance Of A Bollywood Star by Vaseem Khan.
  6. The Future Of Diplomacy by Philip Seib.
  7. Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart.
  8. There May Be A Castle by Piers Torday.
  9. The Way Of The Strangers: Encounters With The Islamic State by Graeme Wood.
  10. The Pharmaceutical Studies Reader edited by Sergio Sismondo and Jeremy A. Greene.
  11. The Huntress: Sea by Sarah Driver.
  12. The Warrior In The Mist by Ruth Eastham.
I've only got 20 books to go now to hit my 150 target for the year. Gotta say, not sure I'm going to go for 150 again in 2018 because it's turned reading into a bit more of a chore - I think I'm going to go for a breadth of reading targets (so more books from WOC, more books in translation and probably more non-fiction) more than a blunt numerical target.

All reviews are on my blog https://ireadthereforeiblog.wordpress.com if you're interested in checking them out.

You've read 130 books this year? I take my hat off to you, Momento Mori! WELL DONE!!! :) That's an incredible achievement, you know! I will certainly be cheering you on to reach 150!

On to my own, much humbler, achievements -

76. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - J.K. Rowling
77. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - J.K. Rowling
78. The Portage to San Cristobal of A.H. - George Steiner
79. By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept - Elizabeth Smart
80. The Monster Club - Ronald Chetwynd-Hayes

I'm going to do what I said a few months ago I wouldn't do, which is to choose a few short books to boost my numbers in an attempt to get to 100 by the end of the year. If I was nowhere close to 100 now I would just carry on reading whatever I wanted to read, but having reached 80 with 7 or 8 weeks to go, it would seem a shame not to try to get across the finishing line! Feels a bit like cheating, but it's not really - these are all books that I genuinely want to read, and have been thinking of re-reading them for a while now.

Alright - on to the short books, and let's see if we can win through to 100 by the end of the year!

Five short books in less than a week! :)

81. M/F - Anthony Burgess
82. The Crying of Lot 49 - Thomas Pynchon
83. The Clothes They Stood Up In - Alan Bennett
84. For Esme, With Love and Squalor (published as Nine Stories in America) - J.D. Salinger
85. The Fox and The Virgin and the Gipsy - D.H. Lawrence (two novellas published as a single volume)

I've got another five short 'uns piled up on my reading table, waiting to go... With luck, I'll be able to reach 100 before Christmas busyness begins in earnest. :)

Well, I've been confined to bed with a terrible cold for the last few days, which (combined with the fact that I chose short books) has allowed me to get through another five in a little over a weekend.

86. By The Way - J.B. Morton
87. Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu
88. The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam - Omar Khayyam
89. The Screwtape Letters - C.S. Lewis
90. The Complete Maus - Art Spiegelman

Five more in a week. :)

91. Surface Tension - Greg Snow
92. My Quest for the Yeti - Reinhold Messner
93. Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog - Dylan Thomas
94. Keep the Aspidistra Flying - George Orwell
95. A Severed Head - Iris Murdoch

Only five more books to go, with just over a month remaining! I've got a few shortish ones lined up, along with one longer book, and I hope to be finished the four shorties before the usual chaos of Christmas descends... Wish me luck, fellow 100-Bookers!

You'll get there Sage, don't worry! :) Listen to audiobooks at every opportunity, and choose a few short old favourites that you've been meaning to re-read for a while. :Hug2:

Well, I've finally done it... I've done what I would have thought was impossible a few months ago and read 100 books in a year! The final five were -

96. A Pale View of Hills - Kazuo Ishiguro (to remind myself of the brilliance of this year's Nobel prize winner!)
97. Death Sentence - Don Watson
98. The Quantity Theory of Insanity - Will Self

- and, just to finish with style :) -

99. Psmith in the City - P.G. Wodehouse
100. Leave It To Psmith - P.G. Wodehouse

I've done it! It has been GREAT fun, but I'm not sure that I'll try to reach 100 books next year. I have neglected my writing a bit over the last few months in the name of meeting my reading targets, and I've also avoided reading books that I really wanted to read, just because they were long or dense. This is a bit self-defeating for a prospective writer, so, while I'll join in with the thread again next year, I won't fixate on reaching 100. I'll just follow my usual reading habits and see how far they get me. If I get to 70, say, that'll be enough for me. :)

Meantime, I will carry on reading and adding to my list for the rest of the year, but I'll be reading at a saner (i.e. slower) pace now that I've reached the 100. There are also a few long books that I've been hankering to read for a while now but have avoided, and I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into them! Lonesome Dove, here we come...

I had a slightly below par November and only managed 9 (although this is because a couple of the books I read were quite long), taking me to 139 for the year.

  1. Love And Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch.
  2. The Midnight Peacock by Katherine Woodfine.
  3. I Am Traitor by Sif Sigmarsdóttir.
  4. Monstress Volume One: Awakening by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda.
  5. Little Secrets by Anna Snoekstra.
  6. The Twelve Lives Of Samuel Hawley by Hannah Tinti.
  7. The Bloodprint by Ausma Zehanat Khan.
  8. The Unwomanly Face Of War by Svetlana Alexievich.
  9. The Impossible by Mark Illis.
I'm definitely not going to go for 150 again next year. I think that 125 is better for me - still a stretch but it'll give me more variety and encourage me to read longer books.

Good grief, you have read 139 books and written reviews for them, all in one year?!! That's incredible - I can't imagine how you find the time! I will definitely have a look through some of your reviews this evening. I hope you enjoyed them!

Now to update the list with my latest five -

101. Dracula - Bram Stoker
102. I, Claudius - Robert Graves
103. Escape From Camp 14 - Blaine Harden
104. The Wine of Youth - John Fante
