I had a thoroughly good April and managed another another 13 due to a much-needed vacation, which takes me up to 34 for the quarter so I'm still on track for the 75 for the year. I'm having a bit of a slow May - only one book so far, but still time to make it up and I've bought more books by writers of colour so I can improve my diversity.

22. The Cathedral Of Known Things by Edward Cox.

23. Dear Amy by Helen Callaghan.

24. Kill Shot by Vince Flynn.

25. Sockpuppet by Matthew Blakstad.

26. The Beauty Of Murder by A. K. Benedict.

27. The Owl Killers by Karen Maitland.

28. The Pledge by Kimberly Derting.

29. Silenced by Kristina Ohlsson.

30. Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo.

31. Seoul Survivors by Naomi Foyle.

32. Time Of Death by Mark Billingham.

33. Jolly Foul Play by Robin Stevens.

34. 13 Days Of Midnight by Leo Hunt.

I had a bit of a disappointing May - only managed another 6, which takes me up to 40 for the year and still on course for my target of 75. I've bought a number of books by writers of colour to try and up my diversity (reading a second one for the year last month) but I'm still falling down on it. I'm also on a bit of a crime/thriller kick at the moment and those books tend to be longer, which means I read fewer of them. Ah well. Tally below.

35. Natural Causes by James Oswald.

36. Bird by Crystal Chan.

37. My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish: Live And Let Swim by Mo O’Hara.

38. Burned by Benedict Jacka.

39. Girl Out Of Water by Nat Luurtsema.

40. Hamster Princess – Harriet The Invincible by Ursula Vernon.

A little belatedly, here's my next ten - I'm currently on twenty-three for the year so far.

11. Skein and Bone by V.H. Leslie (collection, read as ebook)
12. Horror Uncut: Tales of Social Insecurity and Economic Unease edited by Joel Lane & Tom Johnstone (anthology)
13. Hotel World by Ali Smith (novel)
14. One by Sarah Crossan (YA novel)
15. There Will Be Lies by Nick Lake (YA novel)
16. The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick (YA novel)
17. Jean Rhys by Carole Angier (non-fiction)
18. Behind the Scenes at the BBFC: Film Classification from the Silver Screen to the Digital Age edited by Edward Lamberti (non-fiction)
19. Five Children on the Western Front by Kate Saunders (MG novel)
20. Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley (YA novel)

The YAs and MG are Carnegie Medal shortlistees. I won't have finished the whole shortlist before the Medal is awarded this coming Monday - I'm currently partway through the seventh out of eight. My money's on Marcus Sedgwick this year.

OOh can I start now, I know its July but I reckon I can do a half marathon
I have in my diary a 50 book reading challenge I found on Pinterest, so am doing that already;
A book written in the year you were born
A book with numbers in the title
A banned book
A book you were supposed to read at school etc

Shelley - Join in! It's kind of a whatever-kind-of-challenge-you-want place. We just call it 100 book challenge. I've never actually read 100 a year, but I'm on track to actually do it this year! Good luck!

I'm horribly behind on my reviews but I did manage another 9 books in June, which takes me up to 49 for the year. Because I think my 75 target is now too easy, I've decided that I'm going to go all out and try for the 100 (although I suspect I'm going to end up between 85 and 90).

41. The Book Of Souls by James Oswald.

42. Poison City by Paul Crilley.

43. Orangeboy by Patrice Lawrence.

44. Help! I’m An Alien by Jo Franklin.

45. Mystery & Mayhem edited by Katherine Woodfine.

46. Hell And High Water by Tanya Landman.

47. People by Alan Bennett.

48. Time Travelling With A Hamster by Ross Welford.

49. Highly Illogical Behaviour by John Corey Whaley.

All reviews are on http://quippe.livejournal.com for anyone interested. I'm on a bit of a 'grown up fiction' kick at the moment so don't know how much will interest the posters here.

My next five, completing the Carnegie shortlist. I'm a juror for the British Fantasy Awards again, so my reading will be anthologies for a while.

21. Alan Clarke by Richard Kelly (non-fiction)
22. Probably Monsters by Ray Cluley (collection)
23. The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge (YA novel)
24. The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness (YA novel)
25. Fire Colour One by Jenny Valentine (YA novel).

The next book I complete will be my twenty-ninth for the year, so I'm slightly under an average of one a week but I'm still on target for fifty again this year.

A slow June meant I only read 5 books (all 'grown up' fiction as I was trying to take a break from YA and children's fiction for a bit). Still hoping to make my 100 for the end of the year though.

Doh! Hadn't realised it had been so long since my last post. I've been hopelessly behind on my reviews but I had a pretty good July and August, reading 13 in total. Most of it was children's or YA and I've been on a fantasy and SF kick. Still on course for my 100 for the end of the year.

55. The Emergency Zoo by Miriam Halahmy.

56. Nothing Short Of Dying by Erik Storey.

57. Hamster Princess – Of Mice And Magic by Ursula Vernon.

58. Raymie Nightingale by Kate DiCamillo.

59. Epiphany Jones by Michael Grothaus.

60. An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir.

61. A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir.

62. The Book Of Lies by Terri Terry.

63. Sorcerer To The Crown by Zen Cho.

64. My Brother Is A Superhero by David Solomons.

65. V Is For Villain by Peter Moore.

66. Made To Kill by Adam Christopher.

67. Infernal by Mark de Jager.

All reviews are on http://quippe.livejournal.com for anyone interested. I've been reading a mixed bag recently but am trying to find humorous YA and children's for a project I'm working on - seems to be dominated by fart jokes ...

I had a pretty good September, managing another 8 books so I'm on target for my 100 still. Most of the books were fantasy and YA - and I'm trying to read YA humour for the current project - finding a lot of rom-coms and geek culture type jokes, which is interesting.

68. Sparrow Falling by Gaie Sebold.

69. A Tiding Of Magpies by Peter Sutton.

70. Wolf By Wolf by Ryan Graudin.

71. Flirty Dancing by Jenny McLachlan.

72. A Perfect Spy by John le Carre.

73. Born Scared by Kevin Brooks.

74. False Hearts by Laura Lam.

75. Under A Pole Star by Stef Penney.

All reviews are on http://quippe.livejournal.com for anyone interested.
