Hello y'all,
My name is Crystal, and I'm from NW Tennessee. I'm a blogger, and I started work on a book during NaNoWriMo (I've still got a long way to go on the first draft even though I won). My other interests include Painting, drawing, knitting, crochet, photography, and technology. My dream is to have a blog (or two) that's useful to other people, and eventually publish a book.
My main weak points at the moment are spelling, and grammar. School almost completely ruined me on writing; because of repeating the same types of exercises year, after year. I struggled with spelling and grammar so much that I figured for a long time that there was no point in trying to write beyond what was absolutely necessary because of how bad my grades were.
I scraped by in high school and managed a B on my final grade (2004). I took up blogging in the middle of last year after having decided that like art, writing just takes practice to get better at it.
Recently I bought a copy of The Chicago Manual of Style 13th edition (I got it for $1 at a library book sale), and I've been studying it along with "The Elements of Style". I'm having trouble understanding Mr Strunk's book, as it assumes you know more about the...the... Mechanical terms of english, than I do. So, I have to look up almost everything that I read in The Chicago Manual of Style.
Please forgive my long winded post. I'm very excited to be here, as it's a big step for me. I take critique well, but I am going to warn y'all that I will ask a lot of questions if I don't understand something after thinking about if for awhile. It's wonderful to be able to meet y'all.
~Crystal
