The Plains Agency (Christi Cardenas)

Has clients at Tor, which is a good sign. Doesn't say what agency she worked for though.

A good agent represents clients you've heard of. She represents Margaret Weis, one of the big names in fantasy (mmm Deathgate Cycle), and her name is on two major ($500k+) deals for Weis & Hickman. Must be the same Christi Cardenas who worked for the Lazear Agency, unless there are two Christi Cardenases representing Weis(es).

AQ hasn't caught up yet and still lists her as being with Lazear.

The Plains Agency

Has anyone had contact with the Plains Agency in the last few months? or Christi Cardenas? I am getting no response from The Plains Agency

I sent an e-query on 12/26 and got an e-jection on 2/2

I sent an equery on 1/11 and got a rejection on 2/2 (which seemed to be her catch-up day, as quite of few of us on the purgatory thread got rejections that day).

Her PM entry says, "I will respond to you. Forgive me in being brutally honest, but I may respond immediately or we may be enjoying a different season when I get back to you."

This is common with many agents. Between all the regular work they have to do, they will often set aside some time to work through a backlog of new queries. This time might be every few weeks, or even every month or so.

So it's not something to worry about just because you haven't heard in a while when someone who queried two weeks ago got an immediate response. The other guy might have gotten a query into the middle of an ongoing session, while your query is waiting for the next one.

I like that she's in Hudson, WI. My wife grew up there, and her family lives in River Falls.

Thanks tbrosz. I think it's all the instant e-mails that have spoiled me.

I e-queried her on April 1. I'll report back when I hear from her. And here's hoping it is sooner than later!
