Name some mainstream fic for me!

All the titles I can think of with those features fall into the paranormal or romance genres. Sorry!

I can't think of the first one, but Denzel Washington played a quadraplegic in The Bone Collector and I believe it's based on a novel by Jeffery Deaver.

Carol Shields' Larry's Party is written from a male pov.

Geek Love, Katherine Dunn (read it when i was 8, but i think i remember it being good)

Poisonwood Bible, Barbara Kingsolver (great!)
The Acorn People, Ron Jones (this is maybe a YA, but it is awesome)

The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith, but it's a mainstream thriller...

Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison.

Icy Sparks - written by Gwynn Hyman Rubio.

The protagnist, Icy, is female and has Tourette's syndrome. A really good read.

I can think of a YA writer, Christopher Pike, who often writes from a female pov. He's written a few adult books too.

The protagonist of THE HA-HA, by Dave King, is a Vietnam veteran who suffered a brain injury that left him unable to speak, read, or write.

A Prayer for Owen Meany- John Irving

One of the most moving and stunning books I have ever read. MC is disabled.

I think Water for Elephants would qualify. Female author with a male protagonist, and for part of the book, he's physically disabled in a nursing home. Although, it could be a romance. I'm not 100% on the genre. Sorry.
