I'm a big REH fan myself. He was a very gifted storyteller, but you don't see his full range unless you step outside the fantasy genre and read some of his other works. I know I pushed him as a fantasist, but I also like his horror, crime, and fight stories.

It's been many years since I read any of REH's work outside of fantasy, and perhaps I should. I foresee a trip to the used-book store soon at any rate, and should they have any Howard, I shall pick it up. Right now I don't have any books in the place that I haven't read, outside of my so's crafting-themed romances and thrillers. Even she admits those suck eggs.
I find myself wanting to wax rhapsodic about a good used-book store trip here. My last one set me back over a hundred bucks and went a long way toward replacing the collection I once had (15000+ books, mostly sf paper) that got lost due to moving/storage complications.
