Okay, I'm going crazy. I have a humorous contemporary novel and .... cannot find a publisher! Yes, Yes, of course I'm trying to get an agent, but....

I really don't want an e-pub - been there, done that. Most publisher I find that would work, want agented submissions only. Sigh. Any thoughts?

Stop selling it as humorous. (Seriously) Sell it as contemporary, as a romance, as chick lit, as urban fantasy, whatever else it might fit into, but stop selling it as humorous. Funny is extremely subjective and if your novel's good enough, it can BE funny while still being, for example, a contemporary romance.

My other thought is -- continue to try to get an agent. Most publishers DO want agented work. Ergo, if you have an agent, your odds of getting a publishing contract greatly increase.

Hang in there and good luck!
