Sandra was trying to write a letter to her cheating husband, but that bitches blood kept clogging up the fountain pen.

Carolanne, Try this,

Sandra set her pen to the paper, scrawled a ragged line addressing it to Thomas.

That bastard wouldn't cheat on her again, at least not with Cheryl.

She cursed as the pen went dry in mid-word. The bitch's blood had clotted up the pen once again. This was going to take forever...

(I know, I know, not the place for corrections, but the "manager" in me won't let some things be).

BTW, I apologize, my lines weren't "first" lines...

A poisonous millipede raced the length of his jaw and then pausing pulled itself up to move along his lips stopping only to explore his nostrils, delicately poking its long fangs momentarily inside each.

Try this,

He felt something crawling along the length of his left jaw. He tried to scream, to thrash, to slap at his face as the thing raced from the back of his head, along his ear, and down his jaw to his mouth.

It paused, questing with feelers or worse, before thrusting something delicately sharp and wicked up his right nostril.

He screamed in silence, a victim of the paralysis that had stunned his body into submission, but left him entirely awake and all too aware...

FOTSGreg,

Yes, I agree, much better, but that's not one line :)

Cheater, lol.

Carolanne, who is an OCD stickler for following rules, even in games.

Tom wiped the sweat off his forehead, took a step back from the corpse, and admired his handiwork.

(Funnily enough, Tom's the good guy).

I had thought the car crash killed my friend, but now that he stood before me, pale skin, rictus of death on his lips, I could see I had only been half right.

She sat chanting while plucking each of his eye lashes one at a time, "He loves me, he loves me not... he loves me, he loves me not."

The first sentence from a WIP I've been thinking about for awhile now (ecological catastrophe and a team of cold sleep soldiers plus survivalist horror/adventure - yes, it's a cliche and a trope, but I bet I could run with this one for awhile).

We stepped out of the Icebox into the harsh light of a future age, twenty years beyond what we knew, and saw right away that things were not what we had been led to expect.
