The festival is Saturday and Sunday - if that helps folks.
There was food available at some booths last year.
There are plenty of porches and hallways for the coolness factor.
I had thought we might just meet, chat for a bit, and take it from there.
Check out the panels available on the website, and see what days look good.

there's a building attached to the student union that has a very fine cafe-sandwiches, smoothies, baked delights, coffee, etc. it is a lovely respite from the heat! and the student union has jamba juice.

i'll be there all day saturday. i highly recommend to anybody going that they buy tickets to see ray bradbury at 4:30 saturday (ETA: tickets are free, plus a 1.50 ticketmaster charge). he's unbelievably awesome and inspirational even if you don't write sf/fantasy!

(...if we haven't already.)

How about-

Sunday, May 10
The Cat & The Fiddle Pub (Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood)
5:00 PM

Any takers? Other suggestions?

*Gives the thread a good poke*

Anybody else still up for this?

Sunday is Mother's Day.

I can't do that date or time.

Would you consider:

Saturday, May 9
1:00 PM
Cat & Fiddle Pub

Other suggestions? I can go a bit later but not as late as 5:00 PM.

I live just north of Koreatown. Have always wanted to go to the Cat-And-Fiddle, but I work from noon till 8pm on Sundays (also Wednesdays and Thursdays).

Bumping this to say that I'm also in Los Angeles and would be interested in any AW meet ups.

Hi Bagels!

Anybody up for reviving the plans for a Cat and Fiddle meetup sometime this summer?

Anyone going to Mythcon at UCLA (July 17-20)? I'm going just on the Saturday, and I think a few out-of-town AWers are going also.

I'm not going to Mythcon (although it sounds very cool), but I'd definitely love to be kept in the loop about any meet up.

I'm all for it!

I'm celebrating a friend's birthday on Friday June 17 but am free all day and most of the night Saturday June 18. Have to be at work at noon on Sunday, June 19.

Plus I live here in Los Angeles (Koreatown to be precise).

Okay I meant July. Sorry. Sorry.

UCLA Writer's Faire this Sunday - free. It involves screenwriting and creative writing.

The information is available here: Writer's Faire.

Just wanted to say, I went to this last year and it was pretty fun. The UCLA Extension has some really cool instructors and you can hear them talk and stuff. It's more geared toward the writerly noob, but there are some interesting talks for people who write both fiction and plays/screenplays.

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when-

But it's certain, that we will meet again.

But to meet me, you'll probably have to be visiting New York.
Enjoy the weather and the palm trees!
Eat some California roll on my behalf!

Oh, well that's a bummer!

Can't blame you for gettin' out though. Us LA people suck. We've been trying for a year and a half to get together and we still can't get all our butts in a seat in the same room. Seriously, how lame are we?

Hello fellow AWers of LA! Just wanted to point out that The LA Times Festival of Books is next weekend at UCLA, April 24-25. There will be heaps of books and famous authors and celebrities who wrote books, and if you have little kids they have some amazing free entertainment on the children's stage. I'll be there for my fourth year, I love it and I can't get enough!
