    Laying around or lying around?

Part of a quote to be published:

I love finding ways to recycle items that are just laying around.

My subject said "laying" but when I wrote the quote accurately, MS Word flagged it.

    Is it laying or lying?

Wow. That's overwhelming! So...am I correct to think the quote should read "lying around" as described in this example?

Present progressive tense (for an action which is ongoing): lying. The baby is lying in her crib. We’re lying on the sand. I’m lying there exhausted, ignoring the sirens.

Whew! It's good to know I can at least recognize what's "correct" out of an endless array of choices!

    Thanks for the speedy assistance!
