I received a rejection from a literary agent because she represents another book that she thought may have some overlap with mine. (In truth, my book is in complete and logical opposition to some of the points her authors' make in their book.) She called my proposal "sturdy", which I think is a good sign.

Hopefully I'll find a home for my baby soon!!!!

Onward and onward :)

Sorry about the R, Soleary. On the bright side, that doesn't even sound like a rejection of the book to me. Bad luck and poor timing is all. Sounds like the agent views you as a worthy competitor to her own client. Keep at it!

I would kill for a rejection like that. It would be awesome to know I had a sturdy proposal. Although my "not right for me" rejection is pretty promisin... What's that? A form letter? Arghhh!
Anyways, Good luck.

I hear you! "Dear Author" is our version of a "Dear John" letter. LOL. I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed for all of us!
Thanks,
