Fresh Magazine

Fresh Magazine: Accepts email queries. Fresh is the magazine put out by the American chain, Hannaford Brothers. Accepts recipe driven articles. Departments include; Inspirations, For Your Health and Cooking With Kids (300 words text, plus recipes). Features vary each issue and include about 400 words of text plus four to six recipes. Articles are usually seasonal, such as grilling in July/August, apple recipes in September/October, holiday fare in November/December. Queries for features should consider the time of year that the article would appear. Regular feature is Meals in Minutes, with a theme such as seafood or one-dish meals, and includes four to six recipes that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less. Pay is not specified, but varies. I am so excited about this. I am a big foodie, but it always seemed to be hard to break into the market unless you were chef-trained. This is gonna be fun!

The Country Connection Magazine: Prefers Electronic Submissions. Accepts articles and stories on a wide range of rural themes with a special emphasis on history, heritage, green travel, environment, ecology, nature, nostalgia, art, studio tours, culture, fiction, leisure, etc. They do not accept stories with references to hunting, fishing, animal husbandry or pets (with the exception of critical essays). Also accepts short poetry. They accept only Canadian content by Canadian authors.
