So, I'm trying to follow protocol and say hello. With that said... Hello AW! I'm trying to read the do's, don'ts and info here and I am a bit overwhelmed but excited. There's a whole new 'lingo' to learn but I have a 13 yo son, so that's something I'm used to :)

Now.. do I talk about myself? Wait for others to chit chat... ??

I am very excited to have found this forum though. I have very supportive friends and family but when I am banging my head from writer's block or pacing over a submission they just smile and keep their distance. Looking forward to making friends with people that 'get it'

Thanks everyone! "What do I write" hmmm, it definitely falls into the fantasy fiction category although I have a hard time pin pointing it past that. Some of my stories (I call them stories because they have yet to become 'books') cross over several genres.

As for coming out of the woodwork, I have recently (in the past 2 years) come out of the closet - as a writer-. I finally let a dear friend read a book I finished and she begged me to let another friend read it.

I was TERRIFIED beyond belief. I had never put my writing 'out there' it was something I did for me. So.. long story short... I ended up with about 25 'readers' and finished a 4 book series for them. Then they started nagging me to get them published. I had no intentions, this had already went further than I ever expected.

Synopsis - started to google 'how to get published' ... had mild heart attack (figuratively). Decided not to publish, got threatening texts, calls, emails from my readers... ha ha

So.. yea, that about sums it up

Hi Specialfae. I just joined the AW Water Cooler yesterday, and I know what you mean about feeling a little overwhelmed. I haven't participated in a web forum in years, and I've never participated in such an active one. This should be fun :)

Hey, welcome to the forums. Don't stress about being new - everyone has done it and some of us are still learning. If you are in a particular forum and you are not sure, go check the 'sticky' threads at the top of the screen. They usually give the lists of dos and donts. More the most part, ask questions when you are not sure, give comments that add value to the conversation and if you are feeling brave, contribute some of your writing for critique. Otherwise, have a great time on the forum.
