A tip for those new to this forum: It helps a lot if you include identifying information (websites, addresses, etc.) when asking about a publisher or agent. That way we can be clear which one you're asking about. Also, before starting a new thread, always check the Index at the top of this page to see if there's already a thread on who you're asking about.

I didn't mean to misuse the board. I am familiar with the index and use it often. With this particular agency I didn't have any luck. Is there something I missed?

I also did an extensive googling, P&E etc. There is no website to refer to that I can find. I was hoping maybe some of the other board frequenters may have had some experience submitting to this particular agency.

Heck, I can't even find the PM page David mentions. But P&E's "$" is a good sign, and both Bantam Dell and St. Martins list Donovan for sub rights to current books.

I just did a search on his agency and found a number of deals that are listed. Among them:
Simon & Schuster
Bantam
Thomas Dunne/St. Martin's
as well as some film and foreign rights.

No, not at all. That part wasn't directed at you, friend. It's just a reminder to those new to this board.

How odd. Our corporate firewall blocks this as a pornography site. I know that it can be obscenely difficult to get an agent, but this is ridiculous. ;)

Thanks, Roger, for that unexpected comment.

Now I have to wipe up the coffee I just spit all over my desk.

Does anyone have any info or experience with Jim Donovan and/or his agency?
I've meet him at writers conferences in Dallas. He's rejected my novels so he must have something approaching common sense and good taste. I've no idea if this info is current or accurate.

Bumping this in case anyone is looking. I do not have personal experience with him, but he reps Elayne Angel. If you don't know, Elayne Angel (The Piercing Bible) and is a BIG DEAL in the piercing industry. When I say big, I mean ENORMOUS. She's pretty much one of the founders of the modern piercing industry and is the person who came up with a large number of genital piercings. I know that's an odd thing to be excited about, but I'm a body piercer and own a tattoo studio that's been around for going on 24 years. Elayne is an absolutely lovely human and I've interacted with her at several tattoo conventions as well as had the opportunity to take several of her courses through the yearly APP convention. I have both versions of her book, the most recent updated last year. I require all of my apprentices to read her book and go over it with me. He has my vote solely based on representing her!
