Formerly The Small Press Center, it's "an educational program of The General Society of the Mechanics and Tradesmen". I.e., it's a trade organization for small/independent publishers.

Thank you CaoPaux. I couldn't find anything on NYCIP on Preditors & Editors or here on AW, so was wondering if anyone knew of its reputation. i.e., is it a respected org? Worth the membership fee, etc?

It's an established org. Some recent press: http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/CA6670282.html I'm not finding any complaints about it.

I presume you'd be joining as "friend?" Discounts on workshops and access to resources would be worth it if you're in a position to exploit them.

Thank you, CaoPaux. It seemed pretty legit, but -regardless of appearances- I always like to check things out via the AW cooler and P&E.

Yes, I may join up as "friend," even though I'm not in NYC. May be worth the while for any online networking with the membership and for keeping up with indie pub news.

Thanks, again.
