[Publisher] Hard Case Crime

Has anyone here dealt with Hard Case Crime Publishers -- submission policies, advances, royalties, payment record, etc?

They are distributed by Random House, so they must be doing something very right. They're well reviewed. Bookscan doesn't report giant sales (they're only somewhat reliable), they appear to be a very cool niche in the crime genre.

Seriously. I adore Hard Case. I think Charles Ardai is one of the coolest dudes in the world. And he's married to Naomi Novik, who not only writes great books but who I've been told is one of the awesomest ladies you'd ever meet.

I dream about one day coming up with something to sell to Hard Case, just because I think it would be so fun to work with them.


(ETA: Our books are all packed, so I can't get a picture of the four-shelf bookcase we own entirely filled with HCC books. But we do have one.)
