Your mother is safe -
Celebrate Wilma's demise
and dead dust bunnies!
(Glad she's O.K.! Enjoy her visit, JAlpha.)
Test, testing, testing,
It's been too quiet, too long -
Is anyone here? :)
Hmm, another theme?
Different Halloween things?
Today, the pumpkin?
(I'll write one... typing...)
Orange globe with eyes
of fright that gleam, watch and wink
at the evil night.

come on, kids, to our house, too
dead-end worth the trip!

sweats and no makeup
read til doorbell rings;

The ghosts and witches
of old have transformed into
Vader and Herbie...
Excitement awaits
kids too anxious for dinner -
plenty of dessert.

Doorbell rang just once :(
Neighborhood's all grown up now
Miss those costumed kids
Memories instead;

Trick or treat at gram's...

plotz plotz nothing hap-happens
what was i thinking.
no no. try again.
that was a bit negative.
fake it. just fake it.
rewrite the bible
using satan's POV
no, that's haskins' plot
twist I Love Lucy
let Ethel star, burn the set,
would they still be friends?
friends for many years
one always in the limelight
then the tables turn
do the characters
change? or is the change in us?
sappy happy ending.
not too obvious
that i'm discouraged is it?
bail out! start over!
no no, press on, on!
just type words words words words words
get them on that page
then, in december,
we'll get back to real writing
having learned ... oh well.

Carnival guard dog
a ruthless creature, trained to
go for the juggler
Beautiful day lives
outside with its windy chants
to join in play.
Wind grates against nerves;
warm air pounds against my flesh -
anxiety thrives.
Pulsating rythm -
my head reels in toxic beat;
tiredness overwhelms.
Slumber becons me
through heavy eyes I succumb -
rest for the weary.
Born where I now live;
I want to learn about you -
You live where and why?

http://www.usatoday.com/life/books/2005-11-01-haiku_x.htm
and you get to mail your haiku to books@usatoday.com
And I hope everyone will visit there daily, and enter daily, and every time add to the base of the email details about the Stories of Strength anthology and www.storiesofstrength.com (http://www.storiesofstrength.com) Vary what you say about it each time, etc, but hey.. lets bombard them until they HAVE to go take a look, right? And, we might even win.
Of course, I say WE but I really mean YOU because I'm not american so I'm pretty sure that I'm not allowed to enter the contest - but, I'll mail them to find out for sure.
Thank you Alphabet;

Birds saying hello,
enjoying their fun time out
winter dampens it
On brisk air arrives
times of great holiday cheer;
I wish you the best!
Mistletoe, holly,
trees with brightly colored lights -
just some of the sights.
Crisp air filled with scents -
cinnamon and cider waft;
pine mixes with smoke.
Packages with bows,
sacks with pictures on display,
surprises waiting...
Eager children yearn

what treasures to find?

touched His creation.

Hello - I've missed you!
Glad you're still here; you look well.
OK... where were we?
Welcome back, Poet!
Glad to see that walkabout
came back 'round this way! :hi:
Poet's walkabout -
feared he'd forgotten compass
but hurray, he's back!
(Better? LOL!)
long damp empty beach
too cold except for 'snowbirds'
the tide ebbing out

when he cries, I see the same
me in my son's eyes
Bittersweet, old song
tugs memories from my heart -
another year gone.

New year, goal setting.
Assessing last year. Not good.
Need to change. Do better.

When I think about last year...
But it forged that wish.

across a summer sidewalk:
game of Rockwell's boys
Smiling, weeping both
We could not have seen this day
But by grace of God
(thank you, Lord)
Anniversary
love shared, mutually grown
our God as the lead
(Happy anniversary Pat and DH!)

Crashes to ground, can't climb wall,
Trapped. Too dumb to leave.

slowly its preserving seal
yields up time's treasure
memories now flood
with cascading folds, as I'm
dressed in white once more

A whole week to work.
Relaxed pace... read a few posts...
Week gone. Work not done.
Too many tasks now.
Quick, this one; now that one. Next!
Ding! Everything's done.
A deadline drives you?
Get more done under pressure?
Life's only today.

So much talent here
why not share the goods for fame,
profit, and glory
Here are two haiku markets to consider. They are both contests with upcoming deadlines and very small fees.

Soul shimmering regrets lost
The void takes me home

washed away by rising foam
lover's forgiveness...

I need to read back -
see what hidden trouble lurks
curiousity piqued.
Tender sleep lingers
dew drops cling to red clover
morning birds whisper
On moon covered ground
radiant light bathes each touch -
breathless lovers swoon.
Warmth starts to linger
crickets announce evening
memories share time.
