There is a designated thread for submissions. It's a sticky thread, right at the top of this board, with a bunch of gold stars next to it. It's called 'Welcome To Absolute Write Idol! Auditions Thread.' You can't miss it.

The judges and organisers have got enough on their plates without having to chase wrongly-placed or wrongly-formatted entries.

I have recently amended the rules to include this information.

Anyone posting an entry anywhere other than in the correct thread as from the time of this message will be automatically disqualified.

My apologies and thanks to those of you who have managed to submit pieces of the correct length in the correct place and in plain text. You rule.

Maybe the title could be changed to "Post your AW Idol pieces here," or something like that.

Over 60 people have managed to do it correctly so far.

It's really quite simple. Just like in any other contest, if you don't read the rules first, and don't follow the instructions... well, you won't qualify. You think the guys at American Idol would give you a second chance?

Good point, maestrowork.

To echo Jenna, following guidelines is an important part of being a professional writer

Be thankful to our wonderful lady "who runs this joint" and all her judges for being lenient. http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Um, did you mean this directed at me? Because I did read the rules and follow the instructions. I just thought I would offer a suggestion that might keep the judges from repeating the same information time and again.

It's not directed to you. It's directed to the people who don't follow the rules. If a person has read the rules, and read the rest of the forum, that person would know exactly where to post his/her entry. Those who come in, don't bother to read the rules, then just post a new thread -- their very own thread, like the world should just focus on them -- well, no matter how many times the judges tell them, they won't listen because they won't read it to begin with.

And why should Simon Cowell make it easier for them? As Jenna said, taking the time to read the rules and follow them is part of being a professional writer.

The sticky thread: Welcome to Absolute Write Idol. Audition thread.

Shouldn't that be the first thread you should read? Three Seven mentioned that thread like a hundred times already:
