Hey all. So, here's the deal-i-o.

I am currently a student in a writing program, but it's a program that's mostly geared to traditional work. Since I want to be a writer for TV animation, I figure that the only way I could produce something while still in school is to do it on my own.

So, I wrote a few short scripts designed for animation, the longest one being about a minute and a half. Now, the next part is to find someone who can collaborate with me and animate one...

...and that's where I'm stuck. I can't afford to pay someone for the work...and, honestly, it's not a professional thing. Ideally, I'm looking for some animation student out there who's thinking 'Man, it would be great practice for me to collaborate with a writer and animate a script.'

So, my question is simply...where do I start looking? I'm willing to do the legwork, but I've got to know what direction to head in.

This is a very valid question. I don't have an answer, but I wish you the best of luck.

My only suggestion might be for you to research the names of those computer software programs used to creat CGI, and then use those names for an advacned Google search that might lead you to a cyber cmomunity full of people who regualrly use (and chatter about) those prgrams.

But if you'd rather do traditional hand-drawn anmimation, try graphic arts web sites.

Hit up your local college/university where they run that sort of thing. You'll find a lot of students already busy on their own showreels but you might get lucky if you spark interest. You'd have to contact the course tutor and ask permission to circulate an email/flyer telling people what you want. Worth a shot.

Alternatively, it's a bit of a crapshoot but you could try imdb pro's message board where people advertise projects.

I got lucky in that department and just kind of fell into an animation writing job.

Edited spelling: Sheesh what kind of a writer am I? I can't even spell "Animation."

Me too... the producer that I'm working with is a member of a group, Women in Animation. You might be able to find a simular group that meets your needs.
