Oddly, not a girl from the Upper West Side ...

Now experts at the Heidelberg University library say dated notes scribbled in the margins of a book by its owner in October 1503 confirm once and for all that Lisa del Giocondo was indeed the model for one of the most famous portraits in the world.
"All doubts about the identity of the Mona Lisa have been eliminated by a discovery by Dr. Armin Schlechter," a manuscript expert, the library said in a statement on Monday.

If you think this will stop people from questioning her...

...you're wrong ;)

It's all a lie!

I've heard that bigfoot painted it, while flying over Area 51 in Amelia Earhart's plane, piloted by Jimmy Hoffa!

Dan Rather has the documents to prove it all!

Did they ask Dan Brown? He's an expert, you know.

This is actually a very cool piece of news. I know there's always been much debate about the model. I suppose the theory espoused by Dan Brown that the model was Di Vinci himself in drag has just bit the dust!

the notes in the margin are interesting and it does seem to put the issue to rest. but this was largely the accepted source (despite the fun but silly fad of thinking he had feminized himself in portrait).

the "lisa" always sort of gave it away for me.
