View Full Version : Future cliche's

Avoiding all the cliche's, a writer is forced to express time honored sentiments with fresh language. A lucky few will be able to coin a new cliche. Anybody have an example?

My hopeful new candidate for a future cliche:

"...screamed like world war three had come and gone..."

Anybody come up with some doosies of their own?

"Earth, what a crappy planet." (or some variation of this)

Haha, I don't think the "meth" part is even necessary!

It warmed up quickly like a microwave oven.

It was 9/11 horrific!

I suspect the ones that will enter the common vernacular aren't the clever ones but the mundane.

Her smile was as phony as Donald Trump's hair.

The waitress, perky as Pamela Anderson's breasts...

Bob showed all the good judgment of Britney getting married.

It's going to come from reality TV and pop music. [gnashing of teeth]

Sigh...

Not sure if this fits......

But I have a probie on my shift and on my engine. Anyway, he was particularly gassy on our last shift. While coming back from a call, he let one rip that was so bad that I almost had to pack out while in the truck (put my pack and mask on). Anyway, I turned around to chastise him severely for his transgression. He smiled sheepishly and said

"Sorry, Cap. I've got my gas than Chevron." :guns:

(this could also be used to describe politicians who are full of hot air....well, that would be all of them)

One young fellow asked the other, "Where would like me to put it?"

"I'll take it in my in-box," said the other shy lad.

One minute she was there, the next she was gone to electricity.

Strap yourself in, we're headed for cyberspace.

Broke into the old joint, walked through the forum, tripped on a long thread, fell down cut my hand on a broken water cooler shard, jumped up and ran straight into a post. The moderator told me I was tresspassing. Told her I'd never left my keyboard!

Hey, no fair. That's supposed to be an accent mark, not an apostrophe.

I'd change that to "...stood out like a misplaced apostrophe."

Though I must point out that he isn't "really" a Texan. His family is from the East Coast. He went off to their college, etc. He is really a carpetbagger who wants everyone to think he is a cowboy. Just thought I would mention that.

Better watch out or we'll come liberate you Aussies too! (j/k)
