Just saw this over at news of the wierd (http://newsoftheweird.com/archive/nw071014.html):
According to police in Warsaw, Poland, novelist Krystian Bala might have gotten away with torturing and murdering a businessman in 2000 if only he had resisted writing about his crime in his 2003 novel, "Amok." The trail for the killer had been cold for several years until a tipster informed police of the book. In the plot, which authorities say bore a distinct resemblance to the 2000 murder, were details that police say could only have been known by the killer. After investigating, police found several other ties Bala had to the crime, including the fact that the victim was Bala's ex-wife's lover. Bala was sentenced in September to 25 years in prison. Wonder what he put in his query letter. "Based on true crime"?

Creepy! Sort of the literary alternative to 'coming back to the place of the crime'? What a strange thing, he must have been haunted by it to write about it, but publish it...? Maybe he wasn't haunted, he just wanted to tell the world. Gosh. You know what, there should be a story on this, and all the psychological implications.
Interesting, Prawn - although for a moment I thought you meant my novel. :tongue
Another story for the Tales of the Dumbass Writers Anthology. This sucker's gonna be HUGE.

I would not want to be the inspiration for the sequel.
On the other hand, he would have lots of time to write in prison, assuming he wasn't busy picking up the soap.
I already know that I would make a lovely corpse.

Actually, I beg to differ...his novel exists...therefore the research paid off. Back to your locker.

Yeah, all that money from his sales will buy him some really nice commissary items in prison.
Back to your locker.
Your fascination with my locker is disturbing. I told you not to look in there...it's where I keep my research.
OIC. So by research you mean Twinkie wrappers?
I'm sure he will be able to buy his way into some very comfortable slippers. It's amazing what prisons are doing for feet these days.
