What is the present day name for a Paddy Wagon? Do they still call them Paddy Wagons?

I found this:

"Paddy" then was combined with "wagon" in the 1920s -- some sources date it earlier, others a bit later -- to describe police vans that allegedly picked up so many "Paddies." Similar references reach into the mid-20th century, and the word remains in use today, appearing in the media and casual conversation.

but is it still known what the word is referencing now when used?

I don't really think they exist anymore. I definitely wouldn't use the term "paddy wagon" in present day lit, as it's a dated phrase (imo). What are you trying to describe? A cop car? A bus of prisoners?

I know what they are, but I have never heard anyone on the news talk about paddy wagons, nor have I ever engaged in a conversation where someone mentioned them. Just food for thought. ;)

In Chicago they have large van/bus vehicles that they use to haul the drunkards away. As far as I know it's still a paddy wagon. That's what I'd call it.

Well obviously I don't know what I'm talking about. Carry on. ;)

Well, out here you see them alot, usually a Suburban or Chevy Tahoe is used. But when I see them, it's clearly a "paddy wagon".

The ones I've seen are big - they can hold 15-20 people. Or so it appears from the outside. Like in the movies w/benches on each side.

Not long after the fight, a large police van came around the corner and picked up the ten drunks.

Rolling jail.

Can't help (though van or bus would do, I'd think).

You don't want to know what a honey wagon is though...
