So this is what they call a "die in":

Here's my favorite part:

The arrests came after protesters lay down on the Capitol lawn in what they called a "die in" — with signs on top of their bodies to represent soldiers killed in Iraq. When police took no action, some of the protesters started climbing over a barricade at the foot of the Capitol steps.

That's not really a civil disobedience, that's more like forcing it on the cops. Being pissed that they aren't being arrested

Back in the day, we just sat there. 'Twas much easier :D

That's kind of the point with civil disobedience? People deliberately get themselves arrested in these kinds of protests to make a point.

gee, thanks IG, i had no idea what civil disobedience entails...

but the track record for many such people in this century, with this war, is that they knowingly break the law and, unlike rosa parks or MLK, they bitch and moan because they were arrested.

like i said, say your piece and take your lumps, and i have no problem with it.

Riiiight, but they didn't get arrested until they actually broke the law, was my point.

Apparently Cindy un-retired again.
Yeah, she keeps doing that. Must be a boredom thing. Guess, crocheting isn't her thing.

Rosa Parks and MLK will always be my heroes.

Where would we be, today w/o them.

The courage of Rosa, astounds me. R.I.P.

Please, IG, don't answer this. Just thinking out loud.

Won‘t that be one mighty day, when we hear world leader say
We don‘t have to cry no more, we‘re giving it up, we‘re gonna let it go

Ain‘t gonna study, study war no more, ain‘t gonna think, think of war no more
Ain‘t gonna fight, fight the war no more, we‘re giving it up, we‘re gonna let it go
We‘re giving it up, we‘re gonna let it go

We will take gun powder to have fun, then get rid of the atom bomb
Something else that we can do, get rid of all those rockets, too

Ain‘t gonna study, study war no more, ain‘t gonna think, think of war no more
Ain‘t gonna fight, fight the war no more, we‘re giving it up, we‘re gonna let it go
We‘re giving it up, we‘re gonna let it go

The money spent on bombs alone can build poor people a happy home
And some good we can do, you treat me like I treat you

No more starving in the nation, everybody getting an education
Ev'rytime a baby is born, we know he‘ll have him a happy home

Ain‘t gonna study, study war no more, ain‘t gonna think, think of war no more
Ain‘t gonna fight, fight the war no more, we‘re giving it up, we‘re gonna let it go
We‘re giving it up, we‘re gonna let it go

No more sleeping in the street, we‘re all happy, whoever we meet
Then we all will shake a hand, and make this world a promised land

Ain‘t gonna study, study war no more, ain‘t gonna think, think of war no more
Ain‘t gonna fight, fight the war no more, we‘re giving it up, we‘re gonna let it go
We‘re giving it up, we‘re gonna let it go, we‘re giving it up, we‘re gonna let it go

With Democratic lawmakers apparently short of the votes needed to force President George W. Bush to change course, Gates defended the war, now in its fifth year, and said it's being driven by the need to stabilize the Gulf and put down hostile forces.
Okie dokie.

Why would they be arrested if they didn't break the law?

How refreshing it is to see you edging back towards your scantily clad avatar.

In a world filled with bad news you give us hope. Fuck oil, you give us something worthwhile to fight and die for.

What's the keystroke for time acceleration here?

That, or we could just do the world a favor and run a tank over those who practice this particularly stupid form of civil dumbassness.

I respect anyone who gave up a perfectly good Sunday to go make a statement. (I was taking a nap).

They are doing something.

Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks are heroes now. Back then they walked the walk and talked the talk against alot of resistance.

They risked their lives, and MLK even lost his life standing up for what he believed in.

So as much as some people hate Cindy Sheehan, shouldn't she get some of the same respect for sticking her neck out? Or, is it too soon for that?

When Cindy takes a few 762x39's in the head then we'll see.

I think she is kind of the Norma McCorvey of the Iraq war.

I'll bet Cindy Sheehan would trade a few 762 X 39's (?) in the head to have her son back.

And until anyone else walks in her shoes, I think they owe her a bit of respect.

I wouldn't trade places with her for anything.

I feel sorry for her on many levels. I hope when the dems get through with her she still has her sanity.
