Well, that's pretty discouraging.

My first reaction was "great," followed by "I hope this wasn't entrapment," followed by the surfacing of a mild but persistent depression that people can do such things. And I have no doubt these guys are small potatoes. . . .

It's nice to see Jersey still living up to expectations.

It is, isn't it? *sighs*

Frankly, as soon as I graduate, I'm moving out-of-state to somewhere that's not that much of a joke(course, I'm not originally a native, considering I'm a Navy brat :p). There are also more practical reasons too, like our obnoxiously high property taxes...ick.

"Quis Custodiet ipsos custodes"

oh please. the people who are protected here are business owners who don't have to pay bribes and the people who foot the ball in higher costs when they do.

I don't know how anyone manages to STAY in Jersey, given the outrageous taxes. We left, and much as it's sort of fun to visit, sorry, you couldn't pay me enough money to entice me to move back. Not even if the taxes were covered. :)

Currently, I live in school housing, so I don't worry about it, but my parents, grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins all have houses here, so yeah, I don't know how they do it, either. Oh, well.

But, hey, at least we don't tax clothes!

someplace around here, anyone seen my keys?
Really? There's no sales tax on clothes? I'm doing all my clothes shopping in Jersey from now on - it would probably be worth the airfare.

Sure. Let's see about your options.

Mississippi. The dumbest people in America.

Florida. I don't need to start with that, right?

Texas. George W. Bush is from there.

California. Moonie-eyed surfing bozos.

Alaska. Ground Zero for the psychologically damaged.

West Virginia. If you like eating hamster and possum for a living, sure.

Every state in its own way is a joke. I'm in NY State now, but I love where I came from, the Garden State. Yes, really.

You would think that. NY's pizza is shit. Which means yours is just a bit worse than that.

??? I seriously doubt that.
Cheerleading invented here.
And perfected in states with girls.
Cranberries.
You're going to list that as a positive?
Tony Soprano and Meryl Streep.
What was it, your state's favorite singer sang about New Jersey?

Baby this state rips the bones from your back
Its a death trap, its a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we're young
`cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run

Traffic circles. A LOT of them.
Again... this is a good thing?

Let me try my state:

California

The information age
Hollywood
Sourdough bread
Gold
Blondes
Brunettes
Blondes who used to be brunettes
Yosemite
A Terminator for Governor

Yeah. We kick Jersey's ass every time we see it. Which isn't often. We can afford to fly right over it to NYC when we head east.

I heard the teaser on the radio news and thought it was about time. Then I heard that it was only a dozen, and I thought all they got were the most careless ones.

Jersey's ok. Taxes, corruption, undefeated Scarlet Knight football, traffic, Pork Roll, illegal immigrant murderers, Pineys, pollution, shore-whores, and more commutable job markets than you can shake a stick at.

Wouldn't it be cheaper and more pleasant to just go up the coast to Oregon?

No. It's state law that all clothes in Oregon be made out of hemp or sackcloth. As a result, not a single designer outlet can be found from the border of Washington to Yreka, CA.

I lived in South Jersey for six months, out in Pennsville where the nuke plant is located. Beautiful area, and the people were really great. The pizza was great, and I think NY pizza is great, too.

We might joke about Jersey, but much of that is probably left over from the 70's when zipperheads ruled the place.

Sorry, Deek, but I just don't dig California. Never have, never will.

Besides, if you drop your wallet in SF, you gotta kick it all the way across the bridge to Oakland before you can bend over to pick it up.

There's lots of places I'd rather be than in SoCal, Joe... But Jersey ain't one of them.

"Hey Captain, you hear about that guy in Jersey who got his head cut off just like this?"
"Yeah, but I figured, what the hell, it's Jersey."

oh - and my favorite -

anything's legal as long as you don't get caught.

shall i go on?

Sorry - it's my home and I love it, despite the killer taxes. I'm still here and I don't see myself leaving any time soon. We've got lakes, ocean, mountains, history, forests (for now), country and city. Close to NYC and Philly. We aren't all in the "family" and we aren't all corrupt (just a rotten few who make the rest of us look bad). We're damn good drivers or else we'd die when the out of staters cross into our space and do 45 in the left lane with their turn signal on for five miles, or the ones who make fun of NJ and then clog up our shore towns every Friday during the summer - especially when they stop at every side street from Point Pleasant to Seaside Park (do you know how great a distance that really is). (Don't get me wrong - I love 'em, I just don't want to be stuck behind them).
