Okay, when the song comes on the radio, at which point in the song do you remember how ****ing great of a song it really is?
Lyrics for the Philistines out there:
Leaves are falling all around,
Its time I was on my way.
Thanks to you, Im much obliged
For such a pleasant stay.
But now its time for me to go,
The autumn moon lights my way.
For now I smell the rain,
And with it pain,
And its headed my way.
Ah, sometimes I grow so tired,
But I know Ive got one thing I got to do,
Ramble on,
And nows the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
Im goin round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
Ive been this way ten years to the day, ramble on,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.
Got no time to for spreadin roots,
The time has come to be gone.
And tho our health we drank a thousand times,
Its time to ramble on.
Ramble on,
And nows the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
Im goin round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
Ive been this way ten years to the day, ramble on,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.
I aint tellin no lie.
Mines a tale that cant be told,
My freedom I hold dear;
How years ago in days of old
When magic filled the air,
Twas in the darkest depths of mordor
I met a girl so fair,
But gollum, and the evil one crept up
And slipped away with her.
Her, her....yea.
Aint nothing I can do, no.
Ramble on,
And nows the time, the time is now
To sing my song.
Im goin round the world,
I got to find my girl, on my way.
Ive been this way ten years to the day, ramble on,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.
Gonna ramble on, sing my song
Gotta keep-a-searchin for my baby...
Gonna work my way, round the world
I cant stop this feelin in my heart
Gotta keep searchin for my baby
I cant find my bluebird!
Id listen to my bluebird sing but I cant find my blue bird
A-keep-a ramblin baby...

Difficult to say. So many possible answers.
Great idea for a poll, Rob -- best poll in yonks.

Ah, you MUST listen to some Dread Zeppelin: they do Led Zeppelin songs as reggae, and the lead singer is an Elvis impersonator.
Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant has said that Dread Zeppelin is his favorite Led Zeppelin cover band.

I voted "first note," but I'm a recovering Zepaholic, so take that for what it's worth.

it's one of those songs. as soon as you hear it begin, you're all the way in, anticipating the whole thing.
aahh...I haven't heard it in a long time.

Rob is the coolest cool guy ever.
I do have a thought though. I like Led Zeppelin. Very much. But I like other bands too. I have lived many places and it seems every classic rock station in every city has a time set aside to play several Zep tunes in a row. Why Zep and not say Queen or AC/DC or The Stones or Pink Floyd some other phenomenal band. Or why not rotate them? I'm just curious, not criticising the practice.

I've never been much of a Zeppelin fan, but this is one of the two songs that I've always loved (the other one is "Over the Hills and Far Away." Brutal to play on a crappy 12-string guitar, but still an excellent song).

just reading the poll made me want to play the song. God bless Led Zep.

I don't recognize what song that is from the lyrics.
Next time it comes on the radio, I'll let you know what the answer is.

Excuse me?
Led Zeppelin was the greatest Rock-band EVER. To associate them with disco is heresy!

I found the solution to that. Sirius Radio. Even the DJs are the same ones I listened to as a teen. :D

Because there's no equivalent phrase to "get the Led out"* for any of those other bands.
* that was the name of the nightly Zeppelin spotlight on both I-95 in Danbury and 102.7 in New York when I was younger.

Ahh, the Zeplin. One of our local radio stations has Lunch With Led every Sunday at noon, an hour of the Zep.
Now if they'd just show The Who the same respect . . .

You should suggest something to your local classic rock station. Like how about "Who's Coming to Dinner" for a nightly spotlight?

meh...local radio is mediocre anyway. I only listen becuase I only have a tape player in my car and there are to many variables with my portable CD player, have to plug it in the cigarette lighter or remember batteries, plug in the tape thing, remember to bring CDs, blah blah blah.
I like Led zep, I am just curious why EVERY rock station does it.

Because they were the best. They were innovative, daring and set a whole new trend in the music world, and they refused to conform. They always stayed true to their music.
And Robert Plant and Jimme Page does to this day!

The Zeppelin Tour 2008 turned out to be internet bull@$$%.
Man, I had a couple chances to see them, but I figured they'd always be around.
Damn stupid choice.
I did get to see Roy Orbison, though.
