View Full Version : A site like FictionPress, with actual readers?

I'm looking for a site where the focus is less on critique and feedback by other writers, and more on non-writing readers searching out fiction. A fanfiction.net for original fiction, really; FictionPress is pitiful when it comes to fiction being read. Everyone there is out only to be read, not to read. As one who finds reading fiction online to be somewhat painful, I can't fault this attitude -- yet I have friends who are completely comfortable reading online! People like them have to congregate somewhere, right?

I'd say it's time to start submitting to online fiction magazines. That's where people go to read. That said: Last time I checked it FictionPress had quite some readers. Are you sure it's not just you missing out on them?

They're probably referring to the fact that reading/commenting on fictionpress is pitiful when compared to sites such as fanfiction.net. Writers thrive on feedback, and it's sort of sad when you realize hundreds of people comment on a horribly written, OOC Harry Potter fanfiction wheras only a handful of people read/comment on a beautifully written original story. But then again, I haven't been on fictionpress in quite a while so maybe it's changed a bit, or maybe I just wasn't looking in the write places.
I do agree, though. Try out some online fiction magazines.
