Sorry, that's a distasteful visual.

I thought some of the questions were a little silly, though. "Who do you trust more: professional athletes, or team owners?"

Many of those questions aren't a yes or no answer. Several of them needed a third choice.

My score 20 apparently I am Colin Powell.

Just as long as you don't get in the car with him you should be fine.

I couldn't believe this question:

22. Talk radio shows should be regulated to ensure both sides of a debate are represented, because talk radio has an unhealthy impact on the political process.

Would anyone really answer "yes" to this question? Can we say "free speech?"

18 I'd have guessed differently.

How come they didn't have:

Government should be;
1. given more power over the public.
2. left as it is because it is working fine.
3. abolished and people should just keep their hands to themselves.

Oddly enough, I didn't have to go through all the ideological secret decoder ring settings to figure out that I'm a liberal.

I'm working on a sort of enigma machine where people can type in their opinions and get an coded version that they can plug in whenever they want the big boxing glove on the machine to give them a punch in the nose.

I believe there was something of a tussle over this question not so long ago, er, the "Fairness Doctrine" or some such foolishness.

Anyway, I'm a 25, aka George Bush Sr.

The test is more of a toy than anything else, though.

If there really was free speach, then everyone would get infinite air time.
It seems very odd to assume there are only 2 sides to any question...but check your ideological decoder ring to make sure. I would not want to end up wondering about something so ideologically crucial as getting those just two sides ideas firmly in your mind.

So true. To be fair is clearly foolish. We should make sure we only hear two sides on every issue and we should always know which is foolish and fair and which is the other one which is what we should think.

I came in at 25. I agree with those who doubt the accuracy of the poll. A 1 thru 5 'strongly agree - stongly disagree' answering system would help this test a bunch.

I had many answers which could have gone either way, depending on what might be 'read into' the question.

I didn't like the quiz at all-- I found there were a number of questions which really needed a "none of the above" or "you missed the boat" kind of answer.

I came in very liberal, but that's because I'm socially liberal but conservative on matters of finance and defense with a huge hatred for the whole abdication of responsibility/entitlement lobby.

I'm trusting the Government of North Korea to make them so it might be a while, but I'm sure it will be an ideologically pure product. Wait. Are there two sides to that?

Let's see, if I don't trust the Government of North Korea, I must be a conservative, because the word "government" might mean "government" and not The Federal Government of the United States, which as the real meaning of the word "government" is the "government" that cannot be trusted. But if the word "government" might mean any government does that imply a continuum of governments or are they all just governments? IE might real information intrude into my ideological paradise?

Of course, real information might be invariably in one of two (and only two) possible states each reflecting the "side" that I am or am not on.

For example, there might be only two kinds of governments: A and B. Both could be equally untrustworthy but differ in only one other characteristic such as their committment to hydraulic power, which means that every government committed to hydraulic power must be exactly similar to every other government committed to hydraulic power...I think in ideological terms we can assume this is true and I can put you down for a punch in the nose.

33 for me--and probably because of my indifference to people who call themselves gay--it's their business, not mine.
But I know one thing about the scoring some may wish to ponder. What does it say about our electorate who sees the government as the solver of personal kind of problems--any problems?
Why are so many people tied to taxing the producers?
Why is it that raising taxes (even on the "rich") always mean we all pay more? IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME. Watch and see--you will pay more regardless of how democratic you vote based on the lies of the promise. Heheh.
I remain amused.

-33 for me, perhaps because I'm not indifferent to anything.

If there are big problems, they should be addressed by large organizations who have the job of addressing large problems.

It seems to me that if you want to get money via taxation, you should tax entities that have money. Not much point extracting taxes from entities that have little money.

But, apparently I'm sittin' cozy next to George Bush Sr. I like that. :3 Though I think if i knew for sure I was answering what I really meant instead of guessing on the little knowledge I have of some of those things, I'd appear far more right than that.

I didn't need the test to know I'm conservative, aka RIGHT, anyway. *chuckles*

*whistles away*

ETA--also, I agree with what several of said. The test, as far as question wording and answer choices, really wasn't all that great. To me, some of the questions even felt a tad biased in some ways. Oh well. :tongue|xX

Silly? Apparently the original formulation does one of those 19th century turns of heart vs Head...which suggests that Disraeli may be the source or perhaps the target.

Here's something about Disreali and the "Young England" conservative movement:

Well, I was thinking that I'm getting more conservative as I age. With a score of 9, I should be ashamed of myself.

Actually I thought I was neck and neck with Bill Clinton, and had no idea that Hillary was more liberal than Bill.

They said 11, but I'm more moderate than that. A few of the economic questions confused me, simply 'cause I have no idea what they're talking about. My American Cit. class was not very helpful in that respect.
