I just had a heart stopping experience around equeries I'll share as a cautionary note...I sent an agent I'd met in a workshop three chapters at her request...I thought I had put her name/email address in my email address book but must not have.

Two months went by including BEA and I wondered why she didn't at least send an email decline back (since we'd met and talked a bunch)...well finally I had an excuse to contact her by mailing a copy of a literary magazine my work had appeared in....the day she got the mag she emailed (again it turns out) and I fortunately that day checked my Yahoo spam folder and there she was...about to go down the trash shute with unmentionable pitches for yucky stuff... I rescued the email to read a lovely praise filled request for my full...which I just sent to her (a month late!) She was understanding...but I just thought I'd tell all of you so that everyone takes care to ......PUT THE AGENTS YOU'RE SENDING EQUERIES TO IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK AND THEN STILL CHECK THOSE DARN SPAM FILTERS.

Good luck to all of us...jeez we need it...

I always look at what's been filtered before I delete.

Never trust computers completely. Remember The Terminator and 'I Have No Mouth, But I Must Scream.' (That was redundant, but...)

I check my junk mail every time I check my email. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a junk mail folder, I guess, but I had aprtial request in there once, so I'm not going to stop.

Definitely something to watch out for.

So simple, but something I'm sure many forget. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the reminder. I always try to remember to put the addresses of the people I query into my list of addresses not to be filtered. Or, if they have their own domain, I put the entire domain into the Approved Senders list just in case they send a message from a different address.
