I'm writing a memoir novel and I need feedback on my sample chapters. They are not too long.
Here is my description, as written in queries:
"I would like to tell you about my memoir novel on growing up as an extremely shy, half-black, half-white closeted lesbian. Each chapter is named after a girl or woman I’ve known. Since its underlying themes are of unrequited love and looking, the book’s individuality lies in its visually descriptive style.
My chief aim is to paint dynamic narrative portraits of the unconventional women I have met throughout my childhood and travels. Women I’ve had real-life friendships with, like a church-going seventh-grade Crip from the Seattle suburbs, a Bostonian stripper-obsessed ex-communist with a bookshelf of over two-hundred Qabalah books, and an Australian master’s student and single mother who leads a secret life as a dominatrix; or personas I have observed in the media, like a high school outcast who leads a secret life as a vampire slayer and a skinny punk rock poetess from 1970’s New York City. I delve into my affinity for confident, street-smart bad girls with blue eyes and straight hair. I reflect upon my childhood obsessions with mainstream TV, whiteness and fighting my Afro, and fifteen years later, finding resolution when one sassy pro-sex feminist from Los Angeles inspired me to shave my head."
