View Full Version : Kerouac-ian Haiku
temerity

No, it's not metered! (I know there are a lot of other Haiku threads out there.) I don't know if I'm supposed to post this, or if this is even a good exercise, but my English teacher introduced Kerouac-ian Haiku to our class and I thought it might be good for everyone, just to get some poetic juices flowing.
So, Kerouac-ian Haiku has three lines--it's very short--and it has a message, etc. It often centers around nature or an event, and often uses a dash between lines. For example (from Mr. Kerouac himself):
"Missing a kick
at the icebox door
It closed anyway."
or, my favorite (haha):
"Those birds sitting
out there on the fence--
They're all going to die."
So, if you're interested--post your haiku!

he flirted with her
I wanted her too
they walked away together
not sure if this works but I was game to try.

Hey Godfather, You didn't happen to be listening to Harry Nilsson's "Everybody's Talking At Me" when you wrote this, did you?
Just wondering :D

Does life
Balance between
Shadows in the rain
And newborn baby smiles,
Spinning round
