Good for you!! Keep up with the positive attitude and you'll do well. All the best in your querying.

I'd cross my fingers for you but it makes it damn difficult to type.

You have come farther than 99 out of 100 folks who sit down and say 'I'm going to write a book'.

Endless congratulations.

Sending out the query is the first success.
YYYEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!

You are, of course, now writing Manuscript Two. Nu?

Thats great. Congrats.

As you send out more and more, you'll have to start keeping better track so you don't query the same agent twice, stuff like that. By coincidence, it just so happens that I created a website for doing just that, and its FREE. Please check it out: www.querytracker.net

What's the opposite of a rejection? "acception" is not a word! LOL
Acceptation? What is another word to say non-rejection??

I was reading through the beginning of this thread, and then the Jamie Ford post stood out, and I was all, "Hey! This thread is from 2007!" Then I skipped to the end.

I so hear you. Sometimes I see the accomplishment posts from people who've gotten their first request and are getting their list of questions ready for The Call. And not to take away from them - they should be thrilled! What a big accomplishment!

But ... yeah. I've gotten lots of requests. On lots of manuscripts. If an agent ever actually calls, I shall lose all command of the English language.

You are still here, and one might assume that means you are still writing. Everyone's journey is different. KEEP GOING!!!

Query ON!

But, yeah, after the first few dozen queries and first few partial/full rejections, I too looked back at my initial excitement and said, "What a fool I was!"

However, I queried on, and I stand by my strategy of querying every suitable agent on Earth before you give up*, always improving your query package and novel along the way.

* Give up temporarily, that is, because new agents appear all the time, you know. Muhahahahahaaaaaaa...

:D

Ha ha good point!! Gah. That means writing a new query letter. That does not appeal AT ALL.

You're still here, that's what counts! Keep it up! I started out much the same way you did...toss out a few query letters and the agents will flock to me. Hahahahaha!!! Was I green or what! 4 years and 3 books later (with many revisions), and hundreds of query letters & rejections/no responses, I landed an agent. IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!
