This is a letter-substitute game, of the type DOG > CAT, where you substitute one letter at a time for another and change the first word into the second, as:
DOG
DOT
COT
CAT
So, turn ORDER into CHAOS, substituting one letter for another, stepwise as in the example above. All intermediate words must be commonly recognized, proper names not allowed, all must be five letters, no more, no less. No transposing of the order of letters is allowed, either.
I invented this one sitting in an airport gate area, bored out of my skull one day. It can be done. See how few steps you can do it in.
