Stay strong Deek.

I'm going to stay silent in AW most of the day for him. It just doesn't seem right to have fun knowing one of our own is in turmoil right now.

Edited per someones wishes.

Pray for him.

Seems a good thing to do. I'll stay online so I'll still be available through PMs or email if anyone wants to get in touch, but...damn. I feel deflated now.

Me too. I want to go there for him but I can't. Perhaps some of us could pm him our phone numbers. I'll do mine.

I'm in the same general area - if there's anything I can do, I will.

Folks, thank you so much for this. I appreciate it more than I'm capable of expressing. But please, post. Enjoy the life you have, and the wonderful people who are here. Lclary was the most fun-loving, wonderful person ever. She wouldn't want people weeping on her account.

If I were her, neither would I. But I'm sure she would understand that I can't help it. It breaks my heart.

I'm so sorry that I only found out about this now. If dclary doesn't want us to be silent, then I won't be, but I'll be thinking of him. This is so sad I don't even know what to say.

I signed on this morning and just "got the horrible news". Was looking forward to some mindless, silly fun... but I can't type with these tears in my eyes. Wow. Some things just hit too hard. In respect, I'll be absent today, too.

Some of you may have read my post in the other thread, sending him my thoughts, that my home town is Valencia...
That the special education teacher I had assisted during my school years was my first taste of human kindess by way of an adult.
She had taken an ugly duckling kid under her wing, offered warm smiles, encouraged independence, and nodded emphatically when I excelled--and I wasn't even one of her students! I assisted her class in order to gain credits. I learned so much about inner self from her.

Several moments ago...I learned...(typing is very difficult right now) I learned that beautiful person...my first hero..was none other than Dave's wife.

So...please...I thank you for what you are doing here....she was so amazing...thank you. Thank you for supporting the man who found that rare flower...

Dave:

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Won't you look down upon me, Jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Been walking my mind to an easy time my back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now

Thought I'd see you one more time again
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you fire and rain, now

Stay strong.

Dave, for your wife...

"Available Light" - Rush

The restless wind
has seen all things
in every kind of light
rising with the full moon
to go howling through the night

the sleepless wind
has heard all things
between the sea and sky
in the canyons of the city
you can hear the buildings cry

oh the wind can carry
all the voices of the sea
oh the wind can carry
all the echoes home to me

Run with wind and weather
To the music of the sea
All four winds together
Can't bring the world to me
Chase the wind around the world
I want to look at life - In the available light

play of light
a photograph
the way I used to be
some half-forgotten stranger
doesn't mean that much to me

trick of light
moving picture
moments caught in flight
make the shadows darker
or the colors shine too bright

oh the light can carry
all the visions of the sea
oh the light can carry
all the images to me

Run to light from shadow
Sun gives me no rest
Promise offered in the east
Broken in the west
Chase the sun around the world
I want to look at life - In the available light

All four winds together
Can't bring the world to me
Shadows hide the play of light
So much I want to see
Chase the light around the world
I want to look at life - In the available light

I'll go with the wind
I'll stand in the light

I was wondering why no one was posting in Poetry Critique, I thought it was because of Easter. Then I got to Office Party, then to this thread... then this post:Info here: http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60692

I posted in that thread but I feel a little sick now and I'm totally heartbroken for Dave. Just putting myself in his shoes for a moment makes me unspeakably sad. I can't even imagine being in his place. I tried to post condolences but my words seem insufficient.

I came back to this thread and saw this:
there's a poetry thread too, started by NeuroFizz. You can click on it in my sig line if you want to add something to the thread.
If I can get my act together... I'm really sad about this horrible news. I know I'm somewhat new here but I feel like this news came from a friend, and I am crushed. I don't know what to say. I'll join you in the silent vigil. This is too sad for words.

I got home Friday and cried and held my husband tight. I tried to do normal things, balance the check book, pay the bills, but I felt sick, just sick. I have been thinking of Dclary and Lclary all weekend. My heart aches for you Dave my friend.

I'm glad you're coming in here Dave. I just want to wish much love in the coming funeral. I speak for others as well as myself when I say that I wish I could be there for you. I'm sure you'll have a great turnout and even greater support. Let us know how things are going and please don't stop coming in even if it's just to post a smiley that says how you're feeling. I/we will respond to that.

Keep going Dave.
