I write fantasy, and occasionally science fiction. I enjoy the works of George RR Martin, Ray Bradbury, Harlan Ellison, Stephen King, and other writers in that vein. (And I thought that The Dark Tower -- the book, not the series -- was a huge, lagging letdown. Just in case anyone else is a DT afficianado.)

I'm struggling with my own work, but the idea of writing a collaborative novel excites me immensely. I'm looking for someone who writes the same kind of darkly humorous stuff that I do, has finished at least one novel in the past, and writes proficiently. I'm fifteen, sixteen in a few weeks, so if that's a problem then we obviously can't work together.

I also need someone who does not shy away from the really painful and gritty stuff with enough of an edge to make stories worth reading, who is willing to put characters through hell and make them suffer the consquences of their actions, and who doesn't subscribe to the theory of My Protagonist Must Be Perfectly Good and My Antagonist Must Be Perfectly Evil.

I envision worldbuilding a novel together, and then alternating the writing chapter-by-chapter, coming up with characters and plot as we go. I'd rather not work with an outline, and would welcome massive plot changes by the other without prior consultation: I'm looking to add excitement and verve to my writing, and it seems that this sort of thing would really shake me up.

If this sounds like the sort of thing you'd enjoy, and would be willing to dedicate a lot of time and energy to (I'd like to finish this whole thing in six months or less, depending on how long it turns out to be and such), then please contact me by replying to this thread, PMing, or emailing. We would then exchange manuscripts from novels we've already committed to make sure that the other person is someone whose writing we'd be willing to put our name on.
