And yet another update! This time I wrote about going to see Guy Gavriel Kay interviewed and give a reading last night, then I wax philospophically about being a "grown up".
Also I started a "name that quote" game. I give a quote, and you tell me what movie it is from (preferably from your brain, but the quote today was tough, you may have to google). Come on, you know you want to play!

Kate - my god he's doing well. He's up at like #2 bestseller here in Canada after I think like a week, and is about to head to the states for a major book tour. He's also evidentally working on a few screenplays that some big Hollywood types have requested of his books (I am so sorry I can't seem to remember which ones!)
I truly envy his career. But who wouldn't?

I updated mine yesterday - I dont plan on posting during weekends as that is my time with my family. Yesterdays post was a Top 10 Current Events type of post. I hope to make that a weekly thing, I just hope I dont lost interest in blogging and give up on it entirely. I know Im not writing as well as I hope to, but I've been spending some time brushing up on grammar. It's hard to get everything grammatically correct when you've been away from writing on a regular basis for so long.

I posted today about the organization Children Walking Tall, a charity, which I just found out today that our own Joseph Calabrese is involved with also. Way To Go Joe! See excerpt below from today's newsletter.
http://everythingindian.blogspot.com/2007/01/children-walking-tall-and-mango-house.html
The Eyes of Mara
"Recently we found out that a screenwriter in New York City (Joseph Calabrese) had offered to provide Children Walking Tall with the profits from his promotional work for his screenplay.
He said "I researched several charities and I felt your organization fit my screenplay best, since my story takes place in 1890's Colonial India and features some of the hardships the Indians suffered during British rule."
His website www.theeyesofmara.com, will give anyone who is interested an idea of the plot and the www.cafepress.com/theeyesofmara store has some of the merchandise that he hopes to sell and that will hopefully, when sold give Children Walking Tall a boost.
We wish him the best of luck and hope to see The Eyes of Mara 'at a cinema near you' soon..."
I also posted about Room to Read, which is another children's charity.

I update my main blog when I have something to say. But I update my fictional character's blog every day. I've come to regret it in a way, because it keeps me up way later than I want to be, trying to come up with what is essentially a short story per night. A lot of these post run well over 1,000 words and some close to 3,000. And I try to illustrate each post, too. Every night.
Yeah, I have no life at all until this thing is done, which should be in another couple weeks. When I gave my character a blog, I had no idea she was going to run me ragged like this! ;)

What a coincidence - that's one of my current reads, too! Only on chapter four, though. I love 'doorstop' books. :D
Oh, yes -- I do, too! I always feel sad when I finish an enthralling doorstop of a book, as though I've been jerked out of a whole 'nuther, fascinating world where I would otherwise have lingered for much longer.
The last doorstop book I read was Vikram Seth's A Suitable Boy: 1500 pages. Quite different from Jonathan Strange, to be sure, but it's another wonderful, wrap-you-up-in-it story.
And Talia: I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your kitty. As a fellow kitty purr-son, my heart goes out to you. :( Edited to say: I left a comment for you on your blog. Take care.

I'm hoping to start a new blog today. I posted on my current blog yesterday. It was a bit about my trip to Vegas this week.
