Whenever I'm angry, have a funky tune in my head, or just in the mood, I sit down and write a song. I've read songs are poetry, if I'm wrong I apologize! ( I guess this a wrong place to put them too) SO far it's minimal, maybe 5-6 good ones. There not master peices, but they aren't totally ammeture either. (Scuse my terrible spelling)

I always thought I'd send them in and try to get 'em published, but, I don't have the nesscessary materials. It's not like a book where you send in the manuscript, you actually have to have a vocal recording and such. And I can't sing. Only 'recording' I have is a portable tape recorder. (Like thats going to sound good)

Anyways, since I can't publish them, what should I do with them? I'd put them on the net, but I have this genuine fear someone who does know how do it write will steal it. And I by the lord don't want that to happen!
Is there any alternate ways to get them seen? Or am I out of luck. And is my fear stupid of someone stealing them?

I would rather publish them as songs.

Hmmm... I'm not sure I understand, do you want to publish them as poems or songs?
(I would certainly consider songwriting poetry)

If you want to publish them as poems, I'm sure you can find somewhere that doesn't require voice recordings (although, voice recordings are cool).

Now, I know very little about publishing, but good luck to you friend.

Oh dear, I think you may be on a hiding to nothing there. This may well be like the person who has a great idea for a book but can't write for nuts. Sorry to be pessimistic but you're probably going to be up against folk who not only can compose tunes but also work out the musical arrangement for them.

Can you play an instrument? If so that's a tremendous advantage.

If not, I'd recommend (and bear in mind I know very, very little about this) perhaps approaching a small local studio and inquiring of them do they know any musicians and singers who could be hired to arrange/sing/perform your songs. I'm sure you will have to pay quite a bit for this. Then they would probably be able to tell you what to do next with your recording and if it has any merit.

Best of luck. Also try and convince your muse to consider writing some short stories or a novel. Very hard work also but at least you can get on with it without hiring other folks to compensate for any shortcomings.

Ps. Spellings are hard. I've downloaded google toolbar. It contains a spell checker. Ah, those embarrassing days before I discovered it.

Hi, Vaxil, and welcome.

You might do better getting an answer in either of the following forums here:

Ask the Agent
Songwriting (under "And the Rest")

Good luck!

Whenever I'm angry, = bad karma ... never do this, you'll fall off your chair have a funky tune in my head, or just in the mood, I sit down and write a song. Ref f instance illigal software. Anyway, if anyone uses your creativity, its a compliment AND you can produce more of it if you are good. So in this sense the thieve has helped you get ahead. See he can't deliver the 'more'. This is one. The second is have it 'cheap copy righted'. Print the text + music and send it to your own address registered. And keep this then unopened. In case of courtcases they look at the date and when then they open it and see your work ... well that's copyright. The thief wouldn't be able to show that kind of proof. Get the idea. It works and its a valid court document. (Among other things I am a State procecutor smile!) And I by the lord don't want that to happen!

Make a board here for 'insider song + poetry stuff. Then workshop it as poetry. Mm that'll cover the internet trip smile. You can also one by one contact record companies. But they are not interested in poetry music. For them its noise and video. Pssst non of Dylan Thomas' 'songs' were ever sung. It a special club you are in.
