Nope. This is hyperbolic bs, guys, and a completely ridiculous, unsupported assertion apparently designed specifically for inflammatory value. We're not going to do it here.
Okay...fair enough. I thought maybe I was wrong....at least in way I presented it...
Yet today off ABC News....
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=2638703
Arabs reacted harshly Wednesday to the drubbing of President Bush's party, saying the Republicans paid for failed U.S. policies across the Middle East.
In Israel, on the other hand, some analysts worried that political infighting between Democrats and Republicans in the run-up to the 2008 presidential election might distract the Americans from looming crises in the Middle East, chief among them the prospect of a nuclear Iran.
"Israelis perceive the Iranian threat as imminent," said Prof. Menahem Blondheim of Hebrew University. "Without political support at home and in his party and among American public, a decisive military or diplomatic move against Iran seems less and less likely."
Most governments across the region had no official comment on the election results, but critics of the U.S. role were blunt.
"I was really thrilled when I learned that the Democrats won in Congress," said Mohammed Ali, a Cairo auto parts salesman. "They are far better than the Republicans led by Bush, who destroyed everything everywhere. Look at Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon."
"President Bush is no longer acceptable worldwide," said Suleiman Hadad, a lawmaker in Syria, whose autocratic government has been shunned by the U.S.
Even in pro-Western Jordan, newspaper editor Nabil al-Sharif said many Arabs believe U.S. policies under Bush are "dangerous to the region and to the world."
"We are delighted that the American voters have at least disassociated themselves from these dangerous policies," he said.
Iranian state television said in a commentary that the Republicans suffered losses because of "Bush's wrong strategy in the Middle East" as well as "financial corruption in the United States."
So, Mac....Am I owed an apology?

How the mighty have fallen.

it's amusing how you've now come to link everyday arabs as the spokespeople for terrorists.
and it's amusing how youre implying that arab "delight" and support for us using democracy to clean house somehow means that we've made some sort of colossal mistake.

We've done this joke before(always enjoyable), and I'm pretty sure it's the same Mohammad Ali who sold car parts in Cairo that we had the first time.
Weird.

B. I said "Iran" in the original thread.
That has been proven to be true.
And can we give the terrorists some time?
The election just ended.
You don't think Zawahiri will mention this in his next recording?
I say you're wrong.
I didn't say we made a colassal mistake. Bush is still the commander of the armed forces. In 2008, we might make a collosal mistake.

Bravo,
Do you honestly believe that the actual terrorists aren't happy that Bush took his lumps yesterday?
Maybe there weren't celebrations in this streets, but clearly the middle eastern people from the terrorists to the everyday man hate Bush.
No?

The terrorists love him. He's the best recruiting tool they have.
But really, Billy.
This is the kind of thing I don't want to be drawn into. We're all Americans. We all want our own safety and welfare, despite certain differences on certain things.
And conservatives ridicule (somewhat rightly) whenever liberals bring up the idea that the rest of the world sees our refusal to embrace global warming standards as stupid, because we're our own country and all that. So I don't see exactly how the terrorists should get a viewpoint in this matter, either, then. We make our own decisions. Republicans and Democrats have protected this nation ably over the many long years. It wasn't until the current occupant came along that the GOP really started to believe it's own propaganda, that they're the only one who can do the job. It will take time for people to realize this isn't the case. Perhaps 10 years. Perhaps 10 years of both parties in leadership to know we're all looking for similar things.

Maybe I did it in a too inflammatory hyperbolic manner in the original thread, but I think it's a fair topic to discuss.
And I don't doubt that democrats want to keep us safe.
I just questions their methods.
If I were a terrorist, I wouldn't want my phone calls tapped. I wouldn't want my friends water boarded or sent to secret CIA prison camps.
I understand why they would want the Republicans to be out of charge.
Because I believe the Republican methods are best for keeping us safe, obviously and for disrupting what, and people better wake the F up, is the battle for civilization. These Jihadists aren't fooling around, yet many Americans and citizens of the free world have gone back to a slumber.
And to me it's telling that people across the middle east from the terrorists to the common man hate Bush so much.
Many think that's a bad thing.
I think it means we're doing something right.
We tried being liked and being nice.
We got attack after attack culminating in 9/11.
The common man over there doesn't like our policies? Well Clinton tried the other avenue. THAT didn't work either.
So...I don't know.
Thank you.

Al Qaeda Claims 12,000 Iraq Fighters
In New Audiotape, Terror Leader Also Crows About Republican Defeat In U.S. Midterm Elections
In the tape, al-Muhajir praised the outcome of Tuesday's elections in which Democrats swept to power in the House and the Senate, in large part due to U.S. voter dissatisfaction over the handling of the war in Iraq.
"The American people have put their feet on the right path by ... realizing their president's betrayal in supporting Israel," the terror leader said. "So they voted for something reasonable in the last elections." He did not explain his logic.
I hope you democrats want to keep supporting Israel. Please tell me that the Arch-Terrorist has it wrong.
(TimeSaver: Yes, Greg, we know that if we didn't ivade Iraq we wouldn't have terrorists in Iraq. Personally, I think it's great that we smoked out every guy who ever might have been inclinded to become a jihadist and they're all in Iraq, but that's part of my Iraq = ThunderDome mantra. Regardless, I hope you can formulate some solutions for the now.)
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,228636,00.html
Al Qaeda in Iraq's purported leader vowed on Friday that his fighters would never rest until they have reached Jerusalem and destroy the White House.
In the audio tape made available on a militant web site, a man introduced as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir said Al Qaeda has 12,000 fighters at the ready in Iraq.
"We will not rest from our Jihad until we are under the olive trees of Rumieh and we have destroyed the dirty black house -- which is called the White House," al-Muhajir said
"Olive Trees of Rumieh" = Israel
"White House" = White House

I don't interpret those linked articles the way Billy interprets them--but he did provide some links to back up his assertions, thus making a game effort to substantiate what he was saying.
The forum isn't about agreement, though--it's about arguing well, and respectfully.
It's no surprise to me that our elected representatives have such a difficult time with any truly bipartisan discussion, when the language we've learned to use is so divisive and polarizing. I think we can agree on many key things:
We don't want to see innocents of any color or religious flavor killed.
We don't want to be under attack by zealots of any flavor, here or abroad.
We do want to make a living wage, and provide for our families and pay our bills and have some beer in the fridge.
