I wasn't sure where to post this? Thought of doing it in the announcements, but thought it's basically just poetry related. Anyway...Artella Words & Art hosts a Quarterly Poetry Contest. Poetic Idol. (both Poetinhat and yours truly placed in the last contest.)

They just announced an extended deadline for their next competition. Sept. 15th. Submit any three poems. Entry is $5. Prizes are $150, $50 + $25. (+ some great prizes for each winner as well.) Here's a link to the contest: http://www.artellawordsandart.com/poetry-portal.html#Quarterly

ALSO! Jenna Glatzer has a great article in their current newsletter. You can sign up to read their current issue, and Jenna's article, here:

Now. Let's be nice to ourselves, Dawg. Apron-wringing does you no good.

Dammit, you caught me. I'll have a rewrite of the last one I posted ready in a few...just putting the finishing touches...he he.

I think I will submit one to this. (I think I might need someone to hold my hand though.) ACK!

Kevin, thanks for the link. This looks interesting...do you know what type of poetry they favor? I didn't see any length or form restrictions noted in the contest announcement, but I might have missed something.

Jenna, that was an awesome article. I wanted to shout "Amen!" with every paragraph. "Write the story that matters" sums it up so well. Thanks for an inspiring read!

Does anyone know if Artella acknowledges receipt of poems for this contest? I entered on Monday and haven't received an acknowledgment. I also wrote an e-mail asking about it, but didn't get a response. One last thing--once you pay the fee you are supposed to get a free issue, and I haven't received that, either.

Thanks, guys!
